Yuu POV
A shadow came from the back of the room and slammed into me, nearly knocking me off balance, but I drove the knife through it, making it shatter into nothing.
Zenka frowned at this and ran at me, grabbed my throat and throwing me into the hallway. My head slammed into the wall, making my world shake, I quickly shook my head and started to get up.
"You can still get out of this, Zenka." I said, using the wall to support me as I got up and Zenka walked out of the room, shadows enveloped into him.
"Shut up. I remembered everything!" He said, running at me and trying to hit me with a hand covered in shadows. I side stepped him, slashing th knife at the shadow.
I grit my teeth. "Everyone has regrets, why can't you see that and pass on!?!" I yelled.
"That's the thing. I didn't have regrets!" He said, making a shadow slam into me and send me flying down the hall, smacking me against the wall.
Damn. I got up again and spit blood out onto the ground, getting ready for him again. He frowned at me with a certain sad intent.
"This is just who I am now." He said, pointing at me and ordering more shadow figures of other people to appear, one even shaped as Mei and Nori.
I flinched at this, my body shook a bit, but I closed my eyes tight, then yelled in an adrenaline burst and ran at the shadows, slashing two the two shadows and jamming my knife into Zenka's shoulder.
He screamed in pain, making the entire school shake.
I jumped back and grit my teeth. "I don't get it. Satoshi and them... they freed Sachiko's spirit from here. Why does this place still exist?!" I yelled in question at him.
A smirk formed on Zenka's lips. "Don't you understand? I am the reason it still exists! I'm tied to this horrible place for all eternity!" He yelled, clenching his chest. "That's why I have to kill you!"
"Because that's who I am now!" He yelled, shooting a sharp tendril of a shadow through my knee. I clenched my wound and yelped in quick pain.
"Don't you see, Yuu? I'm the reason all these people died! That's why I can't allow myself to fade away!" He said, punching me in the face, making me fall to the ground.
I get up in anger and punch him back, startling him. "Then what about Sachiko? Why is she here!?!" I asked, kicking him in the chest and making him stumble.
"She's nothing more than a image that was created to make this nightmare, from my memories!" He yelled, making a shadow hit me in the gut.
I fall to one knee and clench it, coughing up saliva and barf. My lungs felt like they were on fire, and my body ached greatly. My wounds might've healed because of Sisters help, but it out quite a burden on my body.
I was exhausted, running on fumes.
Zenka stood over me with dark eyes. "I can't let you leave." He mumbled.
Sachiko was nothing more than parts of his memory. That means that wasn't the real Sachiko, this place is a figment of his memory. The real heavenly host was gone when the others escaped, when they freed Sachiko.
But that doesn't mean they freed all the other wandering souls here. Zenka was one of them, and unlike the rest of them, he had no regrets. That's why his soul was used as a catalyst to reform heavenly host, because he was one that never went through the darkening.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I don't have enough time to get up. If I did, then he'd kill me.
Just as I'm thinking this, someone suddenly jumped onto Zenka's back, stabbing him with a piece of glass in the left side of his chest. He screamed and tried to pry the boy off of him.
Amon!
"Do it now!" He yelled, the shadows stabbing into him as he held tightly onto Zenka.
I grab the knife and run at Zenka, running it through his chest. Light bled through the wound and through his eyes and mouth as a screech of demonic resemblance came from it. The shadow jumped out of Zenka, performing and deforming on the ground, trying to hold itself together.
I grit my teeth in anger, driving my knife through its neck, making more light pour from it, making the screech intensity increase. This thing, was the thing, the creature that made the darkening possible, it did this. It used Zenka's soul as the host for this nightmare after Sachiko escaped.
"And... you kept sister here too." I said with a low tone of anger, stepping over the shadow that was barely any resemblance of human form now.
Without another moment, I drove my knife through it, making it do one last screech, then suddenly burst into light, I covered my face as the room went blindingly bright.
After a moment, the room settled again, and I found nothing but the hallway, Zenka, and Amon on the floor. I let out a couple of short breathes, then stood, walking to Zenka, who was bleeding greatly.
I knelt down and my face turned saddened, so did his.
"I'm sorry." He said, a tear coming down his face.
"Its okay." I whispered.
Zenka slowly smiled, grabbing my hand. "Hey... can you visit... my sister? Tell her... I'm free." He said with a hint of bliss.
I smile sadly. "Yeah. You can count on it." I said.
I placed him against the wall and began to help Amon up, then Zenka spoke up again.
"Hey. Are we... friends?" He asked, without looking away from the ground.
I smiled. "Of course."
Zenka did nothing but smile as his body began to disappear into a shimmer of light. A tear escaped from his eye as he said one last thing.
"Thank you."
(That made me tear up. Why do I do this to myself? But, to tell the truth, I planned for Zenka to have a very small part of the story, coming in mostly for comedy, but over time, I formed the story around him and came up with something much better than what I originally had in thought. This Character is a tribute to BlackThief12, who gave me the idea of this character. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed, and have a wonderful day!) - MnMs171
