--- ??? POV ---
We arrived at the castle rather quickly, Dawn was breaking when we hit the moat. The bridge was up. Hmm.
'Arthur' stepped forward. "Ho the gates! Ser Arthur and ser Axel approach!"
Nothing happened, and I got bored. I jumped, grabbed the top of the bridge, and sprang in.
Then I found the guard, or what was left. Hmph. Great. Bodies. Cause That's always a sign that all is well in Denmark. Wait... What's Denmark? Hm.
I removed the peg, and the gates started to crash down.
I leapt to the ground and caught the bridge, lowering it gently. The chains made a bit of noise, but that's all.
Once everyone was across, I lifted the gates again. I didn't want any enemies escaping. I ghosted ahead, and grabbed one sentry wearing äthyl's colors.
I gagged him, and then dragged him before Axel. "Speak nothing but the truth, and I may let you live. Lie, or refuse to speak, and you die. Understood?" I whispered in his ear.
I pulled my silver pipe, and started an almost unbearably low melody. He could barely hear it. But it should work.
Axel nodded to me, then started asking questions. The man refused to answer. I growled in annoyance, and cut his cheek with a dagger, absorbing his knowledge, and then snapped his neck, tossing him into the moat.
"Two hundred soldiers, the armies of your people are on the outside, no idea of something amiss at the moment.
Fifty mages, all master level, set in the castle. All should be at their posts. I'll handle the mages, silently.
This is mostly a peaceful coup. Lila, Faye, Arthur, stay here, guard the portcullis, huntsman, come with me.
After we've handled the mages, we'll take the soldiers in twos, silently. The moats will be red by the end of the night."
I finished my speech, then started off towards the nearest heat signature. I turned back, and everyone was frozen.
Then Faye pointed up. I followed, and a man held a woman by her throat, over a balcony edge.
He dropped her, and she fell, yelping once, but I silently caught her, bringing her to the small group, no noise.
"And that would be?" I asked.
"Äthyl." The queen responded, gasping.
"Shall I end him as I do his soldiers, Faye?" I asked quietly.
She looked at the queen, who nodded, and then said "yes."
"Aye, m'lady." I said quickly, darting off, Axel following, silently.
We started with the battlements. Cleaning them off was time consuming, but c'est la vie. Hmm. 'Such is life', eh? Interesting.
We finished the walls, so we took the lower levels. We got to the dungeons, and I stopped axel, who was running to a prisoner.
I pulled my pipes, and Axel covered his ears, and the other prisoners did the same. I played a sleepy melody, and the soldiers quickly succumbed.
I placed them all in a cell, then flash burned them, locking the smoke in the cell. The other prisoners I let free, but knocked them out.
Axel protested silently, but I pointed up, and he understood that they would give us away.
Every time I knifed a Mage, I made sure to absorb their knowledge. As master mages, they knew quite a lot, but it was a drop in the lake of magical knowledge I seemed already to have in my mind and sword.
