❶ Luke plodded down the steep shuttle ramp with his arm around Leia's waist. "You feel up to this?"
"Yeah."
They joined Naluma who was stretching in the glade. The senator had taken a few days' leave from the Senate to pursue training on Zaxyn. C-3PO, Han, and Chewie had agreed to care for Ben for a day or two.
"Well, let me know if you need to stop." He kissed her on the forehead. "I understand now. Sorry for being such a nerfherder last week." He cleared his throat. "I didn't know. Aunt Beru was never preg—"
Leia put her arm on his. "It's okay. I should have realiz—"
He flashed a grin. "Well, Naluma straightened me out. Trust me, that was an awkward conversation." His cheeks flamed red as he ducked his eyes.
After a long moment, Leia asked, "So what's on the agenda today? More saber lessons?"
Luke nodded. "And some levitation. Even some meditation. And using the Force not just for brute lifting or saber work, but also for extending endurance."
Leia rolled her eyes. "Great."
"Let's start with some stretching and meditation." He nodded to Naluma, who started the Pu-ha forms. She started by swooping her arms up above her head with her elbows curved and her fingertips touching. She rotated her arms from right to left in a large circle in front of her torso, pushing into a firm hold with flat hands when they reached the left side of her waist. Luke followed each one.
Leia jerked into each movement, barely reaching the form before breaking for the next.
"Slow down, Leia. Feel the Force as you slide from one form to the other. Allow the Force to hold the form, not your muscles. Let yourself go with it." Naluma raised her hands slowly above her head and clasped them. "Slowly, lift up on your toes and reach for the sky. Stretch you body as you exhale.
Leia and Luke followed Naluma's movements. When her form slackened, Luke adjusted her.
Bending to her left side with the hands still raised, she pulled her muscles as far as possible and then reversed sides.
After a few cycles, she moved to ellipting her arms in sequence. "Keep your arms loose. Don't force the movement. Just let it flow."
For the next twenty minutes, they worked the free-flowing movements. Hips, legs, and ankles were next, and then the body as a hole.
At the end, Luke bowed to his Jedi knight and Padawan, and they bowed in return. "Leia, do you need a break? The next exercise will take a few hours."
