My Heart Is Not A Game

Jewel was sitting in the library trying to write a research paper for biology.  She couldn't focus on her work because her mind was with Ben, and so was her heart. There was a small voice in Jewel's head telling her that Ben was telling the truth, but she kept ignoring it. She was tapping the table with her pencil when Mitchell walked over to her table. She took a seat next to Jewel and opened a book, pretending to study.

Mitchell: Hey Jay

Jewel: Hey Mitch

Mitchell: How are you feeling?

Jewel: I feel like crap. I can't concentrate on my work because I'm thinking about Ben.

Mitchell: You don't need anyone in your life that brings trouble and chaos.

Jewel: I know that, but I thought he was the one. I could write a four page letter on how I feel about him.

At this moment, Antonio and Alaina were also in the library. They were doing there investigation and so far all they found was that Mitchell and Mya are sisters. Antonio went on  the other side of the shelf that Jewel and Mitchell were sitting in front of. Because their backs were turned, they didn't notice him eavesdropping.

Mitchell: You know the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else.

Jewel: That's a bold faced lie because it will only take my mind off of Ben temporarily.

Mitchell: You don't need him Jay bae.

Jewel looked at Mitchell weirdly. That was the pet name Ben made for her and it didn't sound right coming from someone else.

Jewel: Don't call me that.

When Mitch didn't say anything, Antonio got another piece to the puzzle. She was hurt and he recognized that. Antonio had an idea, so he went to were Alaina was so he could fill her in. The couple smirked at each other and then left.

Mya was sitting in her room thinking about how crazy things had gotten, but she was oblivious to the fact that this was only the beginning. She wanted to call Ben and tell him everything but that wasn't an option. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at her door. She was surprised to see Alaina standing there and she wondered how she had gotten her room number. Alaina found out from a friend what dorm Mya was in, but she didn't know the number, so she knocked on every door until she saw her. Mya let her in and they sat on her bed.

Mya: I'm sorry about everything that has been going on, but I didn't do anything with Ben.

Alaina: So that text was harmless?

Mya: Absolutely.

Alaina thought before she continued.

Alaina: Do you have a boyfriend?

Mya smiled and nodded her head. She loved her boyfriend with all her heart, and she talked about him every chance she got.

Mya: Yeah he's simply amazing. His name is Kelly, we've been together for three years, and we're gonna be together forever.

Alaina: How do you know that? Anything could happen.

Mya: I am willing to do anything to keep him with me. If he left me, I would go crazy.

To late Alaina thought to herself.

Mya: He plays for The Wizards. He is such a great basketball player and he's incredibly sexy.

Alaina: Wait let me get this straight. Your boyfriend is Kelly Oubre Jr?

Mya: Yeah I know it's hard to believe. He's coming to see me on Friday.

Since it was Wednesday, Alaina and Antonio only had two days to figure everything out.

Alaina: Why don't you bring him to the game and afterwards maybe we can all do something.

Mya: Ok that sounds great.

Mya's phone went off and she looked at Alaina.

Mya: I have to take this, so you can just let yourself out.

Mya got up and left the room. Alaina was confused because she could have told her to leave. As she wondered around the room, her eyes landed on a book sitting on Mya's night stand. It was called Secrets and Lies and Alaina had looked in various book stores trying to find it. She picked it up and flipped through it when she saw something sticking out of one of the pages. As she looked at a picture of an ultrasound, Alaina was glad Mya didn't tell her to leave. The picture was dated 3/27/15 and the person was two months pregnant at the time. She read the page she saw the picture was on and it was about an abortion. Alaina gasped and looked at the back of the photo. Baby Oubre was written in black ink. She pulled her phone out and took pictures of everything. She put the book back exactly how she found it, placed a camera disguised as an earring on the bed and called Antonio.

Antonio: Hey Nana bear. Did you find anything?

Alaina: Yeah I did and it's juicy. Where are you?

Antonio: The library.

Alaina: I'm on my way.

When they hung up, Antonio became anxious because he was ready to hear this. When Alaina got there, she saw him sitting at a table, so she sat across from him.

Antonio: So what's tea?

Alaina took out her phone and pulled something up. She played a recording of her conversation with Mya. Antonio listened carefully as Mya talked about Kelly. When it was over, he smiled.

Antonio: I know Kelly. That's my bro right there.

Alaina: After she got the call, she told me to let myself out and I saw this book I've been looking for. I flipped through and saw a picture of an ultrasound.

She showed him the pictures she had taken and he was floored.

Antonio: If she was two months at the time, she should be eight months right now.

Alaina:  So that means she had an abortion, but Kelly doesn't know about it.

Antonio: This is valuable information, but it doesn't make since.

Alaina: It will all come together soon. I planted a camera in Mya's room. Ayy that rhymes.

Antonio chuckled at his clever girlfriend. He leaned over the table and gave her a kiss.

Antonio: I love you.

Alaina looked at him with big eyes. She opened her mouth but closed it again.

Antonio: Don't say it back until you mean it.

He gave her another kiss and they continued talking. Alaina got her laptop out of her bag and logged on. The earring cam was linked to her computer, so a video popped up and the couple watched. And as they watched, their questions were answered. They decided they would wait until Friday to tell Ben and Jewel. They left the library because they had planning to do.
