Will went to the wedding alone. After his talk with Nico, he really didn't have the resolve to ask anyone else to come with him. His mom would just have to understand.

On the underground, people jostled him and poked around him, but Will was paying more attention to his thoughts.

He had probably just said all the wrong things to Nico. He should have apologized again or tried to make right with him. But now Nico will only believe Will sees him as weak.

The train stopped and Will got off. He had a mile to walk to the ballroom his mother was using for her wedding. She always loved balls and fancy dinners and things.

All Will needed right now was a happy mother and a new stepfather. He needed family right now and he wasn't going to get the love from anyone else. So Will cleared his mind of Nico and walked on through the streets, just another suit in a city full of them.

~o~

It was magnificent. Chandeliers and gold flowers and white cake. Everything looked like it was from the queens wedding herself. Will had never seen so many happy faces.

Music started playing and everyone started wandering to their seats. Some friends started with a few words and Will hurried to the back room before the ceremony got too into gear. He had missed the pleasantries and barely made it in time to actually be in the wedding.

People bustled around the women behind the doors. Dresses and flowers and makeup were all fixed and adjusted for the bridesmaids. The groom and his men sat in the corner, talking and glancing around nervously. Will walked over to join them and they all started asking him questions at once.

"Is your mum all right?" British friend.

"Have you heard any news?" Random guy Will's never met.

"Is it true she got the flu?" Shrill voice from short friend in the back.

Will stepped back and asked, "What?" The men all watched him eagerly and then with confusion as he asked the question.

"Your mom was just a little nervous, I believe. Will, I'm so glad you made it." Earl Greysoul stepped out from the crowd and clapped Will on the shoulder. "I'm sure she'll be fine."

Will let out a breath of relief and smiled at Earl. He was a nice man who took care of his mother, so Will was fine with the marriage. "Thanks, Earl. I think we all are a little nervous. Going to have to live up to the Greysoul legacy once I have the name," Will managed to say, those his voice sounded pitchy.

Earl laughed and replied, "We've still got a surprise for you, Will. You'll see in the ceremony." Right then there was a cheer and clapping from outside the doors and all the women started frantically grabbing men from the group. It was like alien abduction as they pulled them over and hastily fixed their ties.

"That's our cue!" Will said and his eyes felt wide and his voice shaky. He was scared nerves were going to overtake him, but right then a wave of calm like the rays of sunshine washed over him.

Girls and guys started walking down the aisle, arm in arm, and then splitting to either side upon reaching the stage. Will walked up with Earl's sister gently holding his arm and they split off last.

The nervousness was gone, but Will couldn't help but glance at the audience in apprehension. That's when he saw him, and Will had to keep his mouth shut for fear of shouting in surprise.
