After a few weeks I didn't hear a response from Nev and Max and began to lose hope, until one day I received an email from the producers of Catfish saying they'd love to checkout my situation and asked when they could start shooting. I jumped with excitement knowing I could finally know the truth. I replied and said I'd love to start shooting as soon as possible.
Soon after I got emails asking me about my dilemma such as how we met, when we met, and when we starting dating just finding out the basic information about our relationship.
Soon after I video chatted Max and Nev for the first time just so they could dig a little deeper to see what they could find.
"Do you have any pictures of Luke or anything in that manner" Nev asked
"The only pictures I have are the ones on his Facebook profile" I said typing Luke's name in the search bar on Facebook
I saved all the pictures I could of him and immediately sent them to Max and Nev.
"Alright, are these enough pictures. We'll reverse image search these, see where they came from and get back to you as soon as we can" Max explained
I nodded and said bye to them hoping they'd find the information.
A few hours after that video chat I recieved another from Max.
My stomach dropped seeing the icon on the screen I wanted to know the truth but also didn't want to face the face that Luke may not be real. I reached my hand over and clicked the accept button. Max and Nev's faces popped up on the screen of my laptop and I took a deep breath in and exhaled.
My muscles were tight, my heart was racing faster than a hummingbirds wings, and I was so shaky I could hardly speak.
"We thought you'd never answer!" Max said letting out a slight chuckle.
I tried to force out a laugh but the only emotion I was feeling was worry.
My stomach was in 4 knots and I could hardly breathe.
"Yeah, I'm sorry I'm just a little nervous" I said twiddling my thumbs nervously
"So, the results are?" I asked anxiously
"well we reversed image searched them and the results were that the pictures you sent us came from a Tumblr account, but it was a personal account so there's a possibility he could be real but there's also a chance he may not be" Nev said awaiting my reaction
I stood motionless for a second because my question remained if Luke was real or not?
"So we have one favor to ask of you" Max said
"And that is?" I asked
"We need you to tell Luke you have the Catfish team investigation and that you need to meet, can you do that" Max questioned
"Um..." I said looking around the room
What if Luke gets angry at him for not trusting him? What if he is real and he wants to break up with me? I know that all these scenarios could absolutely happen but I need to know the truth.
"Yeah, yeah I can tell him" I replied
"Amazing! Alright well when you tell him you need to tell us so that we can fly over to Texas Immediately" Nev explained
"Yeah definitely, that's fine" I said still focused on the worst case scenario
Nev and Max ended the call and I still stood staring blankly at the black screen.
How am I gonna tell Luke "hey you're kind a sketchy so I hired a team to investigate you". He could break up with me or lose his trust in me or something.
But I deserve the truth, if he won't tell me I'll have to find out myself.
