First off, this is my first story ever so please give it a chance. Secondly, constructive criticism is much appreciated but DO NOT comment insults or hate. And lastly updates will most likely be really slow and I will NOT be putting up an update schedule.

Anyways I hope you enjoy!

 *********

I turned off the empty interstate driving down old barren roads searching in the dark for some sort of sign that I was getting close to my destination. The moon loomed over head illuminating the evergreen trees that seemed to bend over the beams of my headlights. I leaned over my steering wheal glancing up at the floating object that seemed so much brighter from what I was used to in the city. Maybe the docile town in the middle of nowhere is exactly what I needed. Away from exuberant crowds of people and endless seas of limbs and tears.

I continued down the worn road trying to avoid gaping potholes and furry animals that seemed to think it was a good idea to sit in the middle of my vehicles path.

I nearly hit a deer while lost in thought; luckily I was able to slam on my brakes before I could hit it. My car came screeching to a stop and my body lurched forward, knocking the wind out of me when my ribs crashed against the steering wheel.

I slowly raised my head up to look at the panicked animal after allowing my heart beat to return to normal. My eyes locked on with the deer's, its iris's glowing a flickering gold in the headlights. We stared at each other for what seemed like hours; the buck sizing me up, debating whether or not I was a threat. I simply stared in awe, hypnotized by the males looming figure, the muscles in its neck and sides taught with adrenaline and fear. He was absolutely beautiful, and he had a wrack that any respectable hunter would kill for. The extravagant antlers reached up in twists and turns; you could almost hear them shouting "come here ladies, lets have babies!"

I laughed to myself and the deer took off leaping out of my sight into the cover of the surrounding forest. I slowly started to creep up the road again, keeping alert of any more oblivious wild life.

A bathroom stop and a Melanie Martinez album later I finally saw a sign that said;

'Welcome to Brookhaven, Population 1,237

Letting out a relieved sigh I started my next important journey to find the nearest grocery store.

*********

Muddy water sploshed up the windows of my swaying car as I continued to drive through the unavoidable potholes over filled with gooey earth and freezing rain. Slowly, I pulled into the old food mart parking lot; the flashing neon lights of the 'Open' sign immediately giving me a headache. Greedily throwing my door open, happy to escape the stuffy vehicle, I silently slipped out and into a abnormally large mud puddle.

Great.

"Decided you needed a bath did you?" A husky voice chuckled.

I turned my head and glared at the beast of a man who spoke.

I opened my mouth to protest before deciding against it and simply letting out an annoyed huff as I shuffled inside the ancient building.

*********

The storm from outside must have been getting the best of the small towns power grid, causing the worn bulbs to flicker every now and then. The walls seemed to sway whenever a particularly powerful gust of wind hit and I was growing wearier and wearier of just how safe the vicinity was.

"Why is all the good stuff hidden away? What else does anyone buy at these stupid things?" I mumbled to myself desperately trying to locate the booze isle.

Finally reaching the last isle farthest from the door, my eyes settled upon the comforting poison my body craved. I grabbed a basket and began placing bottle after bottle into it until it couldn't possibly carry anymore. Debating whether or not I grabbed enough, I finally just decided to come back later when I ran out.

I looked around the check out isles seeing if they had a self checkout, trying to avoid the judgmental eyes of the employees as they scanned my addiction; unfortunately small towns seem to always to be oblivious to the convenient technology.

I begrudgingly trudged up to the only counter open and not so gracefully plopped the basket of booze on the conveyor belt.

The teenage boy with a pimply face and braces raised an eyebrow at me and opened his mouth, "having a party or just stocking up for the apocalypse?"

Looking at him with a sarcastic smile I growled out a reply, "that's none of your business now is it curly?"

They boy glared at me and continued to bag up my alcohol. I just huffed and gave him a couple hundred dollars and told him to keep the change trying to escape the building as fast as possible.

"Try not to bite the kids head off darling" a deep voice chortled causing me to nearly jump out of my skin.

Placing a hand on my heart I spun to face the offender. "You shouldn't scare people like that. You might kill someone some day," I glared at the same man from earlier as he laughed again.

"Sorry dollface, didn't mean to cause any harm. But hey, I've never seen you around here before, new to town?" he asked tilting his head slightly to the left.

"That is none of your concern, besides I won't be around for long," I answered monotonously, whispering the last bit to myself as I got into my car.

I placed the heavy bag of alcohol on the passenger seat before throwing the car in reverse and heading to my new house.
