Balloons were around the entire house and the words "discharge" hung loosely across the living room pillars. Cruz was coming home today. The long awaited day had finally arrived and not only did the family have a big surprise waiting at home for Cruz but Dolores had a little something planned that no one knew about yet.
The last two months were rocky - for everyone, especially Dolores. Miklo was unfortunately in prison, they didn't know how long until he got out but they knew it was gonna be a couple of years until they could finally see him again. Paco on the other hand was lucky - in his eyes he 'had to do what he had to do' but on the other hand he had no choice.
Paco was enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps to avoid prison time as he was still a minor. It was that or he'd be in prison forever. He was given that chance just like Miklo. Instead Miklo chose the hard way out. In the street life it was die or be killed and that went for cops too. Miklo respected Pacos decision but he knew not everyone else would.
That was the scary part. Rosie had opened up to the family about Pacos choice and where it could get him both good and bad. Crystal had saw Paco twice since he's been a U.S. Marine. He didn't acknowledge her. It sucked seeing him like that, so quite and nonchalant. So she stopped looking for him.
The day mama found out about it - she was extremely happy and didn't care what the world thought about her son. She knew he was finally changing his life around and he was protected. The call was unexpected and the one who received it was not Dolores and if fact Rosie. Everyone was shocked including Cruz. He never thought Paco would be the first one to leave Vatos Locos.
This information was dimes and money to Spiders crew. They felt they could breathe now especially since spider had passed. They wanted no more and decided to call it quits once they saw the big three Paco, Miklo, and Cruz were out of the street for good.
Crystal picked her purse off the couch and walked towards the door taking one final look at the decorated house. She was proud of her work and couldn't wait too see Cruz's reaction to the 'Big surprise'.

Dolores pushed Cruz out the big front doors to the hospital. The hot sun beamed and instantly warmed up his body. He hadn't been outside for 2 months - to him this was a blessing. Rosie rushed up the stone steps and layed kisses over Cruz's face. Crystal stood and watched from afar not wanting to ruin the moment.
