I used to think the mall was extremely fun and a safe place. Those men made me believe other wise. And when Jess left, I was terrifed. Don't get me wrong, I was so glad she left, I don't know what I would have done if they did something to her. And in the end she ended up saving me. She is the best friend a girl could ever have.
And there is something about her, I feel like I can trust her and I want to tell her everything, even if I've only known her a week. And what do I have to lose.
I mean it is a secret to me, but not really in general. I just don't want the same thing to happen here like at my old school. I really enjoy having her as a friend.
And the guys? They are pretty cool too. I mean, they beat up people to save me. Not everyone will do that. They are always goofing around too, even in a serious situation. They're the best, even Kale. He was there for me.
But right now, Kale has his arm around my waist, making sure I'm okay. He's been this way since we left the mall. I like it, but he needs to know I'm not fragile.
Those butterflies, and that feeling is back, it only comes when I touch him.
Does that mean something?
"Bray, are you okay?" Jess says once we arrive at Kale's house hugging me once we get out, in the process making Kale's hand fall from my waist.
"I'm fine just a little shocked,"
"I don't know, I feel like it's my fault." She sighs.
"Why? It's not like you called them" Damon chuckles, bitterly.
"I know, bu-, " I interrupt her.
"No buts, that's what you sit on." I say semi-serious. She just sighs. What will cheer her up?
"Let's sing a song," I cheer. They look at me like I'm a retard. "Come on, lazy bums." I clap.
They all just shake there heads. I start to run in a circle, "We're going on a trip. . ." I start. "Come on Jess, please."
She laughs this time.
"In our favorite rocket ship," She says rolling her eyes, but smiling.
"We just left the mall," I stop again.
"With some men with no balls!" She finishes with a huge grin.
I look at the guys and they all look bored.
Party poopers.
"Fine, be that way." And I walk away swaying my hips, linking arms with Jess.
"Hey! We were just kidding." Justin says, running up to me along with the rest of them.
I just stick my tongue out at him.
"Hey Jess?"
"Yeah?"
"What are you doing later?" I ask.
"Nothing, sitting at home starring at my T. V."
"That's kind of depressing, you think you can stay the night?"
"Yeah, my mom won't give a shit." She rolls her eyes, but then smiles at me.
"I think I'm ready to tell you my secret." I tell her honestly.
I don't know if I am ready, but I want her to know, especially if I want to remain friends with her.
She looked at me shocked, and that caught the boys attention, too.
