"Are you getting sleepy?" Tyrone asks, a slight smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.
I glance over at him, his question causing me to realize I was, in fact, dosing off.
I laugh softly.
"I'm sorry. Your singing sounds nice. It's relaxing." I say. Tyrone smiles back at me.
"I'm glad you liked it." He says. He pauses to set the guitar down before adding, "Do you want to head to bed then?"
"Not really. I mean, I'm kinda tired but we don't have school tomorrow. I don't want the night to be over so fast." I explain. "Sorry, I know I'm weird."
"Hey, don't apologize. I get it. I'm not particularly in the mood to go to bed yet either. In fact I kinda feel like going for a run. Or even a walk would be fine."
"In the d-dark?" I ask warily.
"Yeah. That's usually my favourite time to go."
I chuckle, and Tyrone glances at me quizzically.
"Maybe I do have a sense of self-preservation... compared to you." I start. "I think it's kinda funny how opposite we are sometimes. You're hardly afraid of anything, yet you're still alive. Probably because you're able to defend yourself fairly well. As opposed to me. I'm defenseless and do silly things. I think the reason I'm still alive is because at the same time, I'm also afraid of everything."
Tyrone laughs, too.
"Yeah, something like that."
He studies me for a few seconds.
"I just have too much energy. I need to blow some off or I won't sleep good or even be able to fall asleep. But you don't have to come with, Khai."
"What!? So now you're going to go alone?" I ask.
"I don't want to make you do something you're not comfortable with." Tyrone explains.
"I'm not comfortable with you going out there by yourself... and I'll be fine if I'm with you..." I say. "I just wouldn't want to go out there by myself."
Tyrone nods before walking to my bed to pick up his hoodie, which is laying on the side he usually sleeps on.
He pulls it over his head.
"You think this will be warm enough?" He asks.
"Knowing you? No." I tell him truthfully. "You're always cold. Besides, it's almost December now. We should've had snow already."
"Our poor planet." Tyrone says miserably.
"Yeah..."
"But that doesn't mean it's warm outside. You better layer up, too." Tyrone says quickly.
"I suppose..." I say.
I feel pretty hot right now, to be honest.
Tyrone and I head downstairs, where he throws his leather jacket over his hoodie.
Not seeing my own hoodie, I take a jacket belonging to my mom.
"Are you sure that's warm enough?" Tyrone asks.
I nod.
He seems unconvinced, and his actions prove it when he takes a scarf down from the rest of the winter-wear and wraps it around my neck.
His hand accidentally brushes my face, but it instantly recoils and a concerned expression takes over.
"Khai, you're burning up..." He says, before double-checking by placing the back of his hand against my forehead. "You shouldn't go outside like this. How do you feel?"
