AUBREY

I laid in the bed as a million thoughts flooded my mind. A baby! Me, Aubrey Smith pregnant. Other women would be so excited finding out they're having a baby but I'm not. Growing up I never thought about having kids nor getting married. Plus with my store having the greatest year since opening a baby is the last thing I need.

I got out the bed and walked inside the bathroom. I lifted up my shirt and stared at myself in the mirror.

"Aubrey!"

I eased out the bathroom when I heard my name being called. My bedroom door open and in walked Lamont.

"Lamont!!" I screamed while running towards him.

"Well I guess you did miss me." He grinned while handing me a bouquet of roses. "For you."

"Thank you, they're so beautiful. I thought your plane landed at 3."

"Well the last convention got cancelled so I just decided to come on home." He spoke while rubbing my back.

"Well I'm glad because I have something to tell you." I sighed while giving him the paper and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"What's this?" He questioned while looking at me.

"Just read it." I mumbled.

I watched him closely as he unfolded the paper and begin to read it.

"Are you serious?" He asked with excitement.

I simply nodded my head.

"This shit is unbelievable." He expressed. "Yooo, I can't believe this!" He walked around with the biggest smile on his face.

"What's wrong are you not excited?" He questioned while sitting next to me.

"Honestly, I'm not. I don't want kids."

"Wait, what!" He said while standing up. "This shit doesn't make sense when we first started fucking I always wore condoms and then time went by and I stopped using them, you never stopped me nor told me to pull out. So what did you think was going to happen when I came inside of you."

"I don't know, it's just...."

"It's just what Aubrey?" He asked. "And then you show me the paper just to tell me you don't want kids, you've already made up your mind about the whole situation. You knew I wanted kids, if I knew you felt this way I would have never...."

"Never what? Dated me?" I asked while standing up.

"Yep!"

"WOW." I sighed before sitting back down.

"Well, you don't want kids so I already know what that means and it's nothing I can do about that so it is what it is." He expressed before grabbing his bags and walking out the door.

LAMONT

"I'm sorry I know you've always wanted kids." My aunt spoke while pouring me a glass of sweet tea.

"The most fucked up thing about the situation is her telling me she's pregnant knowing she doesn't want kids. I would have preferred her having an abortion and just never telling me."

"I don't know about that." She spoke while disagreeing.

"Do you think she doesn't want kids because we're not married?" I asked my aunt truthfully.

"I don't know Lamont, it's only one way to find that out."

I sat back in my chair and begin to think. I love Aubrey but I just don't know if I can continue our relationship if she doesn't want kids.
