Chapter 3 Shattered Protection

Aurora's POV

I walk further into the ballroom. Observing all of my peers. They look so lifeless. Even the girls who were so rude to me most of the time. They all looked around with dull to on emotion in their eyes. 'This is horrible. Even if some of them are mean to everyone they think are below them. I would never wish this fate on them.' I think my eyes getting slightly blurry from unshed tears.

Suddenly I am grabbed and dragged outside. When I turned around I see Damon. Wiggling my way out of his grip 'God being around him makes me nauseous' I think.

"Stay away from me you creep, and don't touch me."I furiously yell at him.

"Why should I? Are you intimidated by how popular I am? Or is is that you have a crush on me."Damon says in a very egotistical way.

"Hahaha." I start laughing" As if I would have a crush on you. No, being around you makes me ill." I counter. Damon starts shaking in what I assume is anger. All the sudden he grabs me. "let go." I scream. He instantly lets go of me and cradles his hands.

"You burned my hands!" He accuses me.

"What! No, I didn't. Why would you say I did that. I many be disgusted by you but I wouldn't burn you."

"Yes, you did. You told me to let go and then where I was holding you burned me. How did you do it is the question." He retorts as he tries to grab me again. I dodge him and run back into the building. I look to find my friends; but when I find them they look like the rest of the students. Dull and lifeless.

"No! what is going on? why are you all like this?"I wonder scared out of my wits.

"Oh, Aurora you're the only one who has not been affected. Why is that? From what I can tell you're nothing special. Just another human with no sort of protection." Damon says while slowly walking toward me. "So how is it that you are not under my control?!" he yells as he goes to grab me.

I run to dodge him. As I run my foot gets caught I fall to the floor landing on my hands and knees as my eyes start to water. I clasp my hands together 'Please I just want things to go back to the way things were before Damon came to this town and to this school. When everyone seemed content and happy. And this evil aura was nowhere in sight of the school and town.' I silently plead.

Kara's POV

'Why is there suddenly such a warm light?' My eyes start to clear. I blink and see a girl in the middle of the room. It looks like she is praying. The warm light seem to be coming from her. I look to either side of me and see Xsavier and Rosalin are staring at the girl in complete shock. 'Is that Aurora?' I hear Rosa think. When I hear that I take a closer look at the girl. It hits me that it is Aurora. 'How is she doing that I thought her gifts were sealed when she was 3. Making her basically human.' I ask Rosa and Sav. Neither respond cause they don't know the answer themselves.

Then there is a scream. A horrible sound that could make ears bleed. When I see where it came from I see Damon. He is quickly turning into dust. Aurora is Purifying him and all of the school.

Soon the light around her body starts to fade. Once it's gone she collapses. Sav, Rosa, and I run to her. Luckily she seems to only be sleeping. Probably for the first time in months it looks peaceful. Sav picks her up and we head back to his car. Once we're all in we head back home. As we drive I can feel the weight that was on the town is now gone. "I guess she purified the whole town. She probably doesn't even know it was her who did it." I say. "Ya, I just hope that they don't find her to take her away. She isn't a play thing for their evil." Sav adds.

Once we get to my house we bring Aurora inside. Sav heads to the room she has been staying in but stops suddenly at the living room. I look around him to see all 3 of their families with mind sitting casually in the living room.

"What are you doing here?" Rosa asks Aurora family in a scary quiet tone. " Have you not hurt Aurora enough?"

"We were purified 2 weeks ago when she left. Marco wanted to go after her immediately, but I stopped him thinking she needed time to think and calm down. Then we felt the air clear and got worried so we all rushed over. How is she?" Auntie Celestia explains.

Sav goes and lays Aurora on one of the couches. Her mum goes straight to her. "Oh no. One of her gifts broke out. Most likely to protect her. Though knowing her she also wanted to help everyone and so it took a lot more energy than if she was just protecting herself. But she will be just fine when she wakes up." Her mum says." Unfortunately, we can't keep the world she was born to a secret from her any longer; cause the seal holding her gifts has been shattered. She might be really mad at us for keeping this hidden from her for so long. Hopefully, she will understand once we explain why we did what we did." Her dad says in a sad tone.
