I sit at Kara's vanity looking blankly at myself. Angelica, Radja and I have been staying at her house with for two weeks now. I was getting ready for the winter ball held at my school every year. Rosalin was doing my hair and I drifted off into my mind thinking about what happened between my family and I.

Flashback 2 weeks ago

It has been about three months since the day I first meet the new guy. Whose name I found out is Damon. And since he had become great friends with my twins I see him a lot. They hang out almost every day at our house for hours on end. He keeps trying to have conversations with me but I only give short answers or nodded and walk away. (Now before you say that I am being rude note that ever since I've met him I've been getting a bad aura radiating off him. It just feels like a bad idea to speak with him. So I don't.)

My family have started to notice my quietness around him and have gathered everyone to find out why I treat him so. I'm in my room playing with Radja when I hear them come into my room. I look up and nod Hello. They stay silent.

I look at them questioningly "Um what are you all doing in my room? And why are you staring at me?" I ask them politely.

"Honey, can we ask you something?"

"Shore mum you can ask me anything," I say cheerily

"Okay. Why do you seem so quiet and distant around Damon? I mean he is a very nice young man, but you seem cold towards him. Do you have something against him or are you just trying to hurt him?!" Mum asks getting louder and louder ending with her yelling.

I look at them in shock they were all nodding with what Mum is saying. As they were wondering the same thing. Well, almost all of them Angelica had the same since around Damon as me but made it look like nothing was wrong. So after Mum finished yelling her questions at me Angelica comes up and cuddles into my arms. Comforting both me and herself.

" I will say this once and then I am leaving for my friend's house with Angelica. And we will not come back until you are thinking straight again and lose those the dark auras from around you. Now hear me clearly. I dislike Damon for the same reason I dislike you all right now. It is a sense that if a get close to him I will turn into something I am not and don't want to be! Also have you not noticed that every plant around him seems to wilt or wither. Animals seem to run from him for their lives! And all of you have become people you are not! Now Angelica and I are leaving." I yell.

As we leave with our bags and Radja they stand there looking quite dazed. They are dazed for two reasons 1) I just yelled at them.2) Their minds have been cleared and they realised what I said was the truth.

Back to present

"Aurora.Aurora!"

"What, what is it?" I say slightly jumping in surprise.

"You were spacing out. Are you ok?" Rosalin asks concern laced in her voice.

"Ya, I'm fine just worried about my family. Hoping they're all right." a sad smile on my face.

"Oh. I'm sure they are just fine." Kara says with a smile but I know she is worried too.

"Well, enough sad talk we need to get into our dresses and go!" Rosalin squealed while Kara and I just smile and nod our heads.

We all get into our dresses. Kara is wearing a strapless sapphire dress with gems embellishing the sweetheart neckline and waist. Rosalin is wearing a strapless magenta-ish dress. I'm is wearing a strapless cream dress. All reach the floor.

We head downstairs where Xsavier is waiting for us. He looks so dashing in a tux. Kara's parents are taking pictures of us doing all sorts of serious and silly poses. We all end up laughing at the photos. Once we have calmed down. Us 4 friends go out to Xaviers awaiting BMW and drive over to the ball. We park up front, put on our masks and head into the ballroom.

"Wow. this is the most awkward ball we have ever been to. Don't you think?" Kara says. We all nod in agreement to her comment.

All the students are in their own little groups talking quietly. No one was dancing or having fun of any kind. And everyone was wearing the same dull grey color outfits. Rosalin was close to having a panic attack from all the dullness of the room(The girl thrives of liveliness). Xsavier is trying to calm her down. Meanwhile, Kara is staring at all the people with a look that said they all needed to go to a mental facility stat. I am getting the same horrid feeling I had with my family 2 weeks ago. It is really starting to worry me why this was happening to the school as well. 'I just wanted to get my mind off what happened with my family and have some fun with my friends. But no the world just has to make that hope vanish.' I think worriedly.

Xsavier's POV

'I wonder why a demon child is here. I wonder more so over why Aurora has never been affected by his evil. Plus whenever she is not around I feel like I'm going under as well; Kara and Rosalin feel the same. Then it clears as soon as we start talking to her. We have asked our parents why this is but they don't know why this is either.' I think.

"I have a feeling that Damon is behind this. But how is he doing this?" Aurora says aloud. Though I'm pretty sure it was meant to be in her head. "I am almost certain he's a demon." she snorts "Damon the demon. that's kind of funny, but most demons aren't this strong. So that can't be it. What is he then?"

Kara, Rosalin, and I all look at each other. 'How did she jump to that conclusion. She has no knowledge of the world she was born into. Yet she noticed something wrong with Damon before anyone else. It took us a month to figure out there was something seriously wrong about his aura. But Aurora "knew" the second she saw him. It is almost like he can not hide what he is from her.' I telepathically talk to Kara and Rosalin. ' I know it's weird, but I always feel so safe around her. I can always talk to her and know she won't judge me.' Rosalin comments.' It might be because of what she is that she has such good instincts and awareness of her surrounding.' Kara adds.
