Later that very quiet day, about early afternoon, I was lounging on the dark brown, leather couches, reading a book. I was happy that I had not heard the voice at all.

Then, my mom came in carrying a basket of dirty laundry. I quickly glanced up before continuing reading.

When I heard the sink run, I looked up. M y mom was rinsing a cup. I looked down once more to read my captivating novel.

Then, I heard the voice again.

I looked up, horrified, while my mom was taking a big drink of water.

I scrunched my face in thought. "Mom, can you  turn the Alkaline Water Machine on again?"

My mom looked at me like I was a bit strange but complied. I heard the voice once more. I sat up, becoming more attentive, my ears catching the sounds of the voice.

"Mom," I said in a low voice, "does the Alkaline Water Machine have a voice?"

My mom froze as realization filled her eye. "Yes." she said slowly. "it lets you know if it needs to be cleaned or not.

I actually smacked my forehead. "Mom! That is the voice Penelope and I have been hearing! Ugh, if you only had told us that, none of this would have happened!" I exclaimed frustrated. I went to the sink and turned on the Alkaline Water machine.

"Alkaline Water is in process."

"I'm sorry, if I had realized what was happening I would have told you right away."

"Well, at least it wasn't Lia's spirit." I stated, relieved.

"Yea, it a good thing. Your dad was like 'my babies are hearing voices!' We thought we would have to do an exorcism or send you and Penelope to see someone."

"It was horrible when you didn't believe me." I admitted.

"Oh, Honey, I'm sorry. It wasn't that I didn't believe you it was that I thought-

"-That I was lying?" I interrupted.

"Not lying, just being over dramatic." my mother replied. "When I realized something serious was going on, I-." she didn't finish her statement.

"Well, I'm just glad that mystery is solved. Just wait till I tell Dad and Penelope!"

She pulled me into a hug and kissed my hair. "I'm glad it's solved too. I'm glad that I have you."

"Me too."
