AN: Last Chapter!
Cheshire was able to get most the supplies. I had no clue what they were. Only a few of them I understood. My blood was one of them.
I didn't enjoy the thought of my own blood. I'm not really squeamish to blood, but my own made me freak.
Once Cheshire came back, I helped mix everything together into a watery paste, almost like paint. "One last ingredient, Princess," I glared at Cheshire. "Don't be like that. I'm not happy about it either. Your blood, and my blood both."
I took the needle and pricked my finger, letting the blood drop into our concoction. I pricked Cheshire's paw and he let the blood drip into the bowl.
"Now, just paint the mixture on the ground, make sure it's big enough for you to fit through."
"We should do it tomorrow. I'm tired."
"Are you sure? By now the Prince knows you're gone. It's only a matter of time before he finds you. He has eyes all over the forest."
I nodded. "I'm sure. Wait until tomorrow."
. . .
Waking up early in the morning, I knew something was off. Cheshire was asleep on top of me. I shook him. "Cheshire, wake up, something's wrong,""Another hour, Princess,"
I pushed him off of me. "Cheshire, something is wrong."
Cheshire blinked a few times. "What is it, Princess?"
In the distance, the sound of marching was faint, but slowly growing louder. Cheshire's eyes slowly widened. "They're after us. Quick! The paint!"
I grabbed the bowl and darted outside the tent. I painted a circle on the ground and stared at it. "No magic spell? This is it?"
"No, Princess, not everything needs a spell."
"So what now?"
"We jump through."
"We just jump?"
"Not so fast,"
Cheshire and I turned around, seeing Prince William on horseback. Anger danced behind his eyes. He dismounted and walked over to us. "Where do you think you're going? You need to be at the castle, our wedding is soon,"
I looked at Cheshire but he was gone.
On your own, Aero. I looked William in the eye. "You murdered Cory. You beat him and let those wolves after him. He was my friend."
"He was in the way."
"Of what?"
"Our marriage."
I crossed my arms. "I'm not marrying you. I'm going back home to the Mortal world. Where I belong."
"You won't be a Princess in your silly little mortal world."
"At least there I'd be happy." I stepped over the line of paint, expecting something. Nothing happened and William took a step closer.
The Queen rode up on horseback. She pointed at me, an army of playing cards behind her. "Get her! Off with her head!"
The cards started to advance, William almost over the line.
Just jump. I heard a faint voice say.
I jumped up in the air and started to fall, William's face peering down the hole at me, shouting profanities. I couldn't hear him though, too much wind was running past my ears.
After what felt like forever, I started to fall the opposite way. Instead of falling down, I fell up. Is this portal taking me back to Wonderland?
After another long while, I stopped falling, landing on my butt on the grass. My back was against a tree, my water bottle sitting beside me. I peered upward, sunlight filtering through the trees.
"The Mortal world is so different from Wonderland," a familiar voice said. Cheshire appeared beside me, my backpack in his mouth.
"Cheshire!" I said, wanting to wrap my arms around him and never let go. "Did we make it? Are we back to the Mortal world?"
Cheshire nodded. "Same time as when you left."
I stood up, taking my bag from him. I started to run towards where I knew the lake was. Slowly, the sound of my family laughing came to my ears. Children were laughing and adults were talking.
I saw the lake before anything else, but kept running. I ran into the main cabin and found my mother, sitting and talking to one of my aunts.
I hugged her. "Mom, I missed you so much!"
"Aero? What do you mean? We just saw each other,"
"My phone!" I took my phone out of my backpack pocket and turned it on. Mom noticed the mud and started to yell at me. I jumped back and forth on my feet as I waited for it to start up.
One bar had never looked better.
I hugged my mother again, noticing my clothes from day one were back, replacing the slutty dress. The ring William gave me was still on my finger, and the necklace from Cory still around my neck.
I ran out of the cabin and to my own. Olive was sitting on her cot, messing with her Barbie's hair. She moaned when I came in.
"You're back."
"Hell yeah I'm back!"
Olive just glared at me. "I hate you."
"Yeah, well, I hate you too." I sat down on my cot, the firm mat never felt so good. "But believe it or not, I was almost a princess, so ha!"
"Nu-uh,"
"Uh-huh. Look," I pointed to the ring on my left ring finger. "See? Almost married a Prince."
"Really?" I nodded and Olive smiled. "Tell me all about it."
I nodded again. "Okay, so it all started when I fell down a rabbit hole,"
Okay, well, thanks for reading my short story. I've wanted to do an Alice in Wonderland-ish story for a while now.
Please go check out my other works! I'd love to see more reads on those!
