The morning slipped by in the same quiet rhythm as always, each moment moving as if it had already been lived before.
Jin rose before Taehyung, moving soundlessly through the bedroom. The sky outside was pale, still carrying the chill of dawn, but Jin’s body worked with practiced rhythm.
He laid out Taehyung’s suit on the bed: crisp shirt, dark blazer, the tie that matched perfectly. He smoothed the fabric twice, making sure not a single crease remained. On the nightstand, he placed Taehyung’s watch and cufflinks in neat order, as though the smallest mistake might shatter the fragile peace he had purchased with silence.
By the time the shower door opened and steam rolled out, Jin was already waiting with a steaming cup of black coffee. He offered it without meeting Taehyung’s eyes, fingers brushing the porcelain, his other hand trembling faintly behind his back.
Taehyung accepted it, hair damp, the towel still around his neck. “You’re efficient, as always,” he murmured, taking a sip. His gaze flicked over Jin, unreadable. “You look tired...did you sleep at all?”
Jin looked unbothered as he busied himself in collecting unwashed clothes, putting them in the laundry bag. Then, with a light careless shook of his head, came the cold reply. “I rested enough. Almost ready to be used again.”
“Still on that crap...I see. Then, care to explain why you look so pale? Planning to die under my watch?” Taehyung’s tone wasn’t sharp, but it held weight. A statement, not a concern.
Jin straightened quickly, bowing his head. “You know I won't dare. As long as you have my family in your palm, I'm forced to stay by your side.”
Taehyung hummed as if to test the truth in those words, then set the cup aside and moved to the mirror,
"Even without them, you're still bounded to be mine. You just can't accept this fact, still clinging to this useless hope of being free if you have no one to hold you back."
He began buttoning his shirt with slow, methodical movements. Jin stepped forward silently, picking up the tie.
"And yet you're out here, controlling me by using their lives as a bait. In reality, you're just scared I will disappear without a trace. Hence, these tabs and blackmailing."
His hands worked carefully at Taehyung’s collar, brushing against the steady line of his throat. He stayed on tiptoe to make the knot neat, his face close enough to feel Taehyung’s breath. He didn’t dare look into his eyes.
"Is your brain usually this sluggish? Do you actually believe I need something to make you stay? (Laughing softly) And about keeping your loved ones as hostages, It's just out of pure convinience. I don't want to tire us out.”
Taehyung said casually when the knot sat perfectly. He let Jin smooth the collar, adjust the blazer, brush invisible dust off his shoulders. Every detail, Jin completed with trembling precision, trying to subdue the rage and fear inside him altogether.
Taehyung studied him in the mirror. “About last night…” His voice was calm, almost gentle, which made Jin’s chest tighten more than if it had been anger.
“Better forget whatever you've discovered. If you keep on crossing the line, don't blame me for being inhumane.”
Jin froze for half a second before lowering his gaze. “Yes.”
“Come here,” Taehyung’s tattooed hand reached Jin's waist, snaking around until he reached the curves, then finally pulling him closer. His other hand just resting briefly on Jin’s chin, lifting it enough that their eyes met before it started caressing the beautiful face,
