The River

Wind is whipping through my fur as I free fall, miles above the ground. I'm tumbling in the air until I can no longer tell the difference between up or down. I catch a glimpse at the ground below, and it's coming up fast.

Just before I hit it, I stretch out my wings, twist my body, they catch the air like a pair of shoot. I'm roughly carried up.

Woo hoo!!

This is what I do when I am not running from the bears. This time I'm gonna break my personal record! I fly high, higher than I've ever been. As I do that, I start thinking. I haven't heard of them since the day they found me. But I still won't go back. One of those idiots back there told me no one ever goes through the town. They go around it for fear of catching the disease.

-I should have known...-

Luckily, the town is full of distractions. Trust me, if you saw one of those things, you would stare.

So right now, I'm just enjoying myself in the skies. It's surprising that someone would dare snitch one me the awesome one. I still have to find out who it was.

-hmm..-

The last beasts I've seen before the bears were my best friends.. But they couldn't have! And after all we've been through together!

Although, it was kinda strange that they left without saying goodbye.. but they are the only people I've known. Ever since..

*begins to imagine/hallucinate/flashback/think about the time I lost my family :(*

It was a good day. Bright sun, warm breeze. I'm curled in the Den, with Mother, Father, and littermates, Night and Clip. We were on our midday nap, like all winged cats do.

As I was sleeping I felt Night, my big brother, sneak out of the nest but I was too young and tired to follow him.

Soon, noon turned to evening, and my was time to get up. My parent's couldn't find Night anywhere. We searched everywhere. We even did a whole fanily scouting flight (bird's eye view of da place) He was still nowhere to be found.

Months went by and he was still gone so we all assumed he was dead.

One midday nap, I felt my sister Clip sneaking out. I woke up immedietly to follow her. Maybe I should wake mom and dad up.. but they are sleeping do peacefully. I'll tell Clip to come back when something wierd happens.

She looks around for a bit then races into the forest. I struggle to catch up to her but she's too fast. I lose her tracks in a few minutes. I follow her scent and in a little while she slows down. Where is she going...

Clip suddenly stops in her tracks. Then she starts digging. Dirt flies from beneath her. Clip's cream colored pelt is turning brown. Then she stops and looks around again. Why is she acting so wierd.. Clip can't stand dirt! Wait a minute, this is my chance!!

Clip! What are you doing?! Why are you digging!? You hate dirt! Why did you sneak out? Where are we.. (When I talk like this, I the awesome one am talking)

Then I notice something about her eyes. They are looking right past me, trained on nothing. She continues digging, spraying a cloud of dirt on me. Uh.. Clip??

She stopped digging just as suddenly as she started. Then she frantically took off into the air. I flew up too but by the time I got over the trees she vanished.

I went back to the hole she was digging. It was enormous. Big enough to swallow a hooman whole!

-what is wrong with her-
