chapter 17

Dimitri pov

We made it into the house. After taking out Victor's guards we were securing the building.  Suddenly the howles off a pack off dogs drew our attention.  "Hounds?" I whispered. 

We ran through the house too the backyard.

When we got there we found Vasilisa,  Christian and Rose huddled together while the dogs circled them. 
Way wasn't Roza in the car. I told her too stay put. Does she ever listen.

Victor was standing in front off them. We quickly caught up to victor but it was too late. He pulled out his gun. "If i am not getting the corporation nobody will. It can die  with you Lissa." He then shot just as we got too him. Rose pushed Lissa aside causing her too stumble into Christian.  Rose grabbed her side and fell too the ground holding her wound. Viktor then shouted. "Attack" and the dogs howled into the night. "Ruuuun." Rose screamed. Christian dragged vasilissa running. I looked over at Rose who was on the ground too the couple running.  "Comrade run." She shouted. "I'm fine just a graze." I ran after them.

Rose POV.
I groaned it was only a graze or so i hoped. I didn't really feel much. My adrenaline was running far too high. I pulled myself up. I could stand and walk but running was out of the question.  I noticed a motorbike standing there with keys in it.

It roared too live as i kicked into gear. I don't have a driving licence but i taught myself. I drove towards where they ran too. As i arrived i saw one of the dogs latching onto Christian arm while Dimitri was wrestling with another.  Liss just stood there passive and pale. She looked like she could pass out at any second. I pulled on the throttle making the engine roar. I road up catching the attention of the dogs. The pack charged at me and i stopped flicking into first gear. I opened up the throttle saying a inner hail Marie hoping this would work. The back tire s pinned on the gravel and i pulled the bike under me causing it too turn into the direction off the dogs. The gravel kicked up into the pack making then squeal in pain as the rain off stone hit them.

The broke apart and ran away.

Dimitri POV.

I couldn't believe my eyes as i watched Rose.  The hounds disappeared into the woods. Vasilisa was crouched over Christian ripping a part off her already torn dress too bandage his arm.

The other guards just caught up. I tolled them too get Christian and Vasilissa too the car. Knowing they were save i looked back at Rose. She was sitting in the gravel leaning against her bike. She looked pale and was clutching her side. I ran up too her.

"Are they okey." She croaked. I nodded. "Do you know how amazing you are?" I tolled her as i crouched down beside her. She lifted her hand that was covered in blood. "Apparently not amazing enough. I think i got shot." My eyes widened.  I lifted her/my shirt too see the bullet wound. She groaned as i touched it too see if the bullet was still in there. Unfortunately it was. She groaned again. "Can you walk?" I asked unsure. The looked up at me. "Sure just help me up." She said with her usual bravura.  I pulled her up but before she could stand on her feet she collapsed.  "ohh Roza, oh my Roza." I lifted her up towards the cars and too the hospital.

Rose POV.

I woke too a beeping sound that was enoing the shit  out of me.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I groaned without opening my eyes i swum my hand out off the side of my bed too wack my alarm clock.  The alarm clock however made a "oohmpf" sound. I looked over in shock. Dimitri was sitting beside my bed with a western novel that i just knocked out of his hands. "Sleeping beauty awakes." He said while picking up his book. 

I groaned again rolling onto my back, only this time from the pain.
"Sorry." I murmerd. "Where am i?" I asked trying too sit up but Dimitri pushed me back. "The infurmary,  you past out soo i carried you here."

He carried me. The only thing that would make that better if he carried me shirtless. Too bad i was out cold.

I shifted my gaze towards my side but i felt a sting in my neck.  I reached up and felt my neck bandedged up. I sighed.  "Another scar."

Dimitri looked at me thoughtful.  "The scars on your neck. How did you get them." I didn't want too look at him. I didn't want him too think I'm weak.
He lifted my chin too meet his gaze. "Roza?" And with one word he made me tell. I tolled him i was attacked when we were on the run. Every detail, even the almost rape part.

His face got darker by the second.  I could see him turning things over in his head. "When you get your clean bill of health I'm going too train you too handle those situations." I nodded.  He then picked up his duster and put it on. His eyes shifted uncomfortable.

He looked at me again and resolve flodded through his eyes. "Rose we need too talk..."

Need too talk. The 'talk', really. 

"About us. It can't happen." I was shocked.  "Why?" I asked unsurtan.

"It's not just my age or my position at the academy.  If i let myself love i wouldn't throw myself in front of lady dragomir, ... i would throw myself I'm front of you."

My heart broke.  He was pulling himself from me. I did admire his dedication for the corporation and Liss. I had that same  allegiance for Lissa. I dedicated my live too her.

He pulled out a small brown bag from his duster. "It doesnt mater how we feel. They come first. ......This is something too remember me by." He put it on the edge of my bed and left without another word.

"It's funny. Your reasons for not loving me, just makes me love you more." I said into the empty room.

I opened up the bag and gasped. I pulled out a lip gloss. My lip gloss. He knew i was running out and complained numerous off times during practice.  Then i pulled out a black sports bra. It had a wide back strap and wide shoulder straps. The front had a V cut bust line. And under the bust a wide band too give them support.  There was a note attached.

'This might help support your shoulder.  Comrade.'

I felt tears in my eyes but i refused them too fall. Then the door opened and Liss popt her head inside. I stuffed everything back in the bag. She hurried over too me and egulfed me in a hug. I winched at the pain in my side but didn't lett it show.

"Liss are you okey." I asked. She pulled back looking at me if i was crazy. "Really Rose.  Your the one who got shot and you're asking me if I'm okey?" She asked with humour in her voice. I couldn't help but laugh.

She then tolled me wat happend still on the side of my bed holding each other's hands.

She tolled me victor wanted her too sign over the company too him. He tried too torture it out off her. One off his hence men bagged up her head in trying too suffocate her.

Christian was already out off the infirmary and Viktor was in the cell's off the guard building.
