Chapter 1: Moving Day

Alexis' POV
I put the final things in the box. "Sweetie, the movers are here!" My mom says and enters my room and gasps.

"Aw you've been in this room ever since you were a baby" she says getting tear eyed.

"I know, can't believe I won't ever see it again" I say lowering my eyes to the floor.

"Well you'll definitely like your new room, I know it!!" My mom says cheerily. I sigh and pick up the last box and place it outside where the movers were. I sat on our porch watching the movers put our stuff in the truck. My mom comes and sits next to me and rubs my back with her hand.

"I know it's hard honey but, my hometown offers lots of stuff and it's way smaller so you will have lots of friends" she says smiling and I smile slightly.

"Do you think Dad still lives there?" I ask her and she tenses up.

"Oh um no I don't think so" she says and starts to stand up. I got disappointed cause I was hoping I could see my father for the first time. I know my mom calls him a "deadbeat" and other names too but I know he can't be that bad. I see the movers had finished and I stand up next to my mom.

"You wanna say bye to the old place one last time?" She asks me and I smile and nod and run to my room. I look at it all empty. I know the wallpaper was peeling but it still looked great to me. I looked and saw my guitar sitting there and I gasped. I can't believe I was gonna forget it. It belonged to my father before he left. I strummed it and headed outside.

"Oh your guitar!!" My mom says. Since it was my dad's she was never really fond of it.

"Yeah can you believe that I was actually gonna leave it?" I say and put it in my mom's car. I get inside and so does my mom and next thing you know we were on the road.

"How long is the drive?" I ask my mom.

"Just 3 hours Hon" she says. I nod and put on my headphones. I was listening to Move Along by the All-American Rejects. I watched my window as my town grew smaller and smaller. I closed my eyes waiting for the ride to be over and fell asleep.

3 Hours Later.....
"Alexis!! We're here!" My mom yells shaking me.

"What happened??" I say sitting up.

"We're here" she says again. I get out of the car and look at our house.

"Woah......" I say in awe. It was a beautiful blue 2-Story house. I was amazed since I've never lived in a house that was above than a one-story. My mom looked at me and smiled.

"C'mon it looks better inside." She says and I run inside. It was true, it looks better inside. I run up the stairs and into my room. It was so blue!!!! Well cause blue is my favorite color. I run downstairs and hug my mom.

"It's amazing" I say and she kisses the top of my head. Just then the doorbell rang and we went to the door. My mom opened it and there stood a family.

"Hi my name is Kurt McKenzie and this is my wife Deanne and our 3 kids Andre, Charlotte, and Ronnie" the man said and shook my mom's hand.

"It's nice to meet you I guess you are our new neighbors" my mom says smiling and I noticed that the girl Charlotte looked to be my age.

"This is my daughter Alexis" she adds and I say hi.

"Oh how old is your daughter?" Deanne asks.

"Um I'm 14" I answer shyly.

"Oh so am I, I'm Charlotte" the girl says smiling and offers her hand and I gladly shake it.

"Hey mom, can Alexis come over and meet Donna?" Charlotte asks her mother.

"Oh she probably has a lot of un packing to do" Deanne says and my mom shakes her head.

"Oh nonsense her room is already done" my mom says and Charlotte squeals. She grabs my arm and pulls me towards her house. We go upstairs and into her room.

"Wow your room is amazing" I say looking all around.

"I bet it's not as nice as your room" Charlotte says sitting on her bed and I go sit down next to her.

"So who's Donna?" I ask her and she smiles.

"She's my best friend" she says.

"Cool" I smile.

"So do you miss your old home?" Charlotte asks me and I look down.

"Yeah a lot" just then I heard a knock.

"Hey Charlotte" I see a girl come in wearing REALLY bright color clothes.

"Oh hey Donna I want you to meet Alexis she just moved in next door" I wave and she smiles and waves back.

"Hey it's nice to meet you" I say and she nods.

"You are GORGEOUS!" Donna says admiring my outfit and my hair. I look at Charlotte and she nods in agreement with Donna. I turn red in embarrassment.

"Um thanks??" I say.

"So did you guys start school already?" I ask and they nod and I groan.

"Great"

"Don't worry, you'll have us with you the whole way" Charlotte smiles and I smile too.

"So you gotta boyfriend?" Donna asks me and I shake my head.

"No, do you guys?" I ask them. They shake their heads no too.

"But there is one guy I'm madly in love with: Keithie Feder" Donna says with dreamy eyes.

"Must be some guy" I chuckle.

"Yeah well his dad and our dads are like best friends" Charlotte explains and I nod. My phone buzzed and it was my mom. She wanted me home to help.

"Oh guys I gotta go" I say standing up.

"Awwww" they said sadly.

"Well I will see you guys at school tomorrow" I smile and they nod.

"Just meet me out front for the bus, best friend" Charlotte says. Wow we are best friends now yay!!

"Yeah bye best friend" Donna says hugging me and I hug her back. I wave bye and head out. I opened the door and my mom looked like she just ran a marathon.

"You need help Mom?" I ask her.

"No honey I actually finished right now" she says smiling.

"Okay good night"

"good night sweetheart"

I run up and admire my room for a second. I put on my Batman pajamas and hop into bed. I can't believe I'm saying this but I can't wait for school tomorrow.
