Running. I keep running. My breathing was heavy and my legs were turning to jelly but I continued to push myself further down the side walk I was on. I was about ten blocks away from my house yet I felt the need to continue to run. I was not safe until I was at that center, maybe not even when I got there.

I had no idea where I was and the neighborhood looked sketchy. The houses were old and rusted and all the grass was dead and nothing seemed like it had life in it.

The running became too much as pain shot through my whole body. I walked over to a near by bench, it seeming not very sterdy. I placed myself on it, taking my bag off my back and picking out a granola bar. The fresh air felt nice surrounding me, it's been so long since I was able to just sit outside and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

I used to go out all the time when my mother was around. The thought of my mother brought a heart clenching feeling to my heart. Memories of her being so depressed flash through my mind. She used to always be happy until she got into drugs and was thrown in jail, leaving me with my father. Ever since my mom was put in jail my dad has been blaming everything on me. I am no good for anything and every day ends in a new injury for me.

A shiver ran through me when I thought about it. If my dad ever found me now I would sure be hospitalized at the least.

I threw the granola wrapper on the floor and got up, making my way down the street again. I dug my hand in my pocket and pulled out the folded pamphlet that would hopefully lead me somewhere safe. I stopped so I could read the paper.

I unfolded it and held it up to my face. It described the location to be on 44th street. I lowered the paper searching for a sign that would tell me where I was. Old trees, dead grass, rundown buildings but no signs. I mean none, not even a stop sign.

The rev of an engine made me jump. I turned my head back so quick I felt like I caused myself whip lash. A black car was headed down the street in my direction. I looked closely at the vehicle recognizing the signature skull sticker on the front near the right headlight.

Without thinking I turned on my heels and ran into a big field where the bench had been placed. I couldn’t look back; I just had to hope he wouldn’t see me. What was my dad doing in such a ratty neighborhood? I thought he had a job interview.

My feet carried me to the end of the field where I was met with the hard pavement of a street. Houses lined in every direction except from where I came. I turned my head soon regretting it. The black vehicle was driving towards me through the field. I forced my legs to move again as they ached in protest.

I ran down a street that seemed to be where all the rich people would live. Big buildings surrounding me and professionally done gardens lined my sides. The sound of my dad’s engine got louder as I assumed he gained on me.

I searched around me hoping to find somewhere I could hide. I continued to run with no hope. My adrenaline was running low and my breath was heavy again. I could still hear my dad’s car close behind me.

Finally an alley appeared in sight. I turned roughly into the alley and ran as fast as I could. It led into a small park that I tumbled into. A bunch of trees were lined together that I decided to head towards. As soon as I made it into the trees I gripped a branch tight and started to climb.

I’m not very good at many things but I used to always climb trees when I was a kid which just now told me it wasn’t that bad of a hobby. By the time I was half way up the tree I felt like I couldn’t move another muscle. The branch I was on was thick enough to hold me so I lied down on it.

I let my legs loosen and my arms were by my sides. I could barely breathe and my ribs were killing me. I closed my eyes tight trying to soften the pain. I couldn’t hear the truck anymore but I wasn’t leaving yet. I know my dad. He’s probably waiting for me to move so he can attack me and take me back home.

The thought scared me and I knew I could never go back home now. I made my decision to leave and now I have to live with it.

I turned my head to the side and looked around. A big brick building was at the end of the block that I could see. It looked familiar.

I lifted the sheet in my hand and smiled in relief when the same building appeared on the printed paper. Finally I found it. I folded the sheet up and placed it back into my pocket.

Every muscle in my body ached as I removed myself from the big tree I had chosen. When my feet landed on the ground my body felt like it was going to collapse and I slowly started to walk towards the building. The only thing that kept me moving was the thought of being safe.

Harry POV.

Nothing, that’s what I hear, that’s what I see, that’s what this feels like. Nothing has happened in the three hours that I have been waiting here. No one has even walked near the entrance of this door since Jill left me. I hear no one and I feel alone.

I shifted in the cushiony seat and pulled my iPhone out of my back pocket. I probably shouldn’t be on my phone while I’m working but I’m so bored. For once I actually miss the crowds of popularity and all the media attention. I just need something to do.

I logged onto twitter and tweeted about the charity work in some way that probably no one would get. I liked confusing people, it was fun especially when you have nothing else to do. I went onto instagram and snapped a picture of the empty door area labelling it ‘Someone visit me ;( ‘ and posting it.

As soon as the photo posted the doors burst open and a blonde haired girl stumbled in. The bags under her eyes indicated she needed rest and her heavy breathing told me she must have been running. There was a painful looking bruise just under her cheek bone and she seemed to wobble unstably in place. She looked really pale and with every second she seemed to grow even paler.

Her head lifted up and her light blue eyes met with my green ones. I stared at her for a while forgetting everything that Jill had told me before she left.

“I… I need help” The girl’s voice came out weak and uneven. I got up out of my seat and I noticed her shaking knee's. A moment of shock flooded over me as her body collapsed to the floor.

“Shit” I cursed and ran around the desk towards her. I kneeled down beside her small figure and put one arm under her head and the other under her knees, lifting her up. Her body was limp in my arms.

“Well… shit” I cursed again looking around for help. What am I supposed to do? There’s no one here but me that I know of.

I walked over to the main desk and gently placed her on my shoulder and grabbed my phone from the chair. I looked up Jill’s contact that she had given me before she left and sent her a simple message.

‘Girl passed out, help!’
