Harry POV.
“Just through here” Jill ordered me and I stepped through the big wooden doors that led to the dining room. The room represented a school cafeteria only with nicer.. well everything. The room was filled with kids ranging from toddlers to teens. Everyone seemed to be separated into groups, toddlers near the right corner with a few adults, kids in the corner opposite and tweens and teens were placed together in the middle.
“You can sit anywhere” Jill informed me and walked in front of me. Feeling slightly out of place not knowing anyone, I began to follow her. Jill made her way towards a group of adults, conversing amoungst each other. Jill waved in their direction before sitting down next to an elderly man.
I stood awkwardly beside the table quietly looking around.
“Oh my, Harry sorry I thought you would have chosen to sit with the teens. Come join us” Jill waved me towards the table and moved over to clear a spot for me.
“Everyone this is Harry, he’s volunteering for a few weeks” Friendly faces smiled at me as I returned the gesture.
I heard a chuckle behind me, turning to notice a crowd of teens surrounding Amber. They stared at her eagerly as she explained a situation I could not hear.
“Jill, where’s Kat?” I asked turning back around when I noticed her absence at their table.
Jill shrugged “Probably with Amber”
“Well she’s not” I said with a hint of confusion.
“Excuse me” I excused myself from the table before standing up. Wasting no time I walked over to the crowd of teens and budded my way through to see Amber.
“Amber, can I talk to you” Everyone went silent as I spoke and I felt one of Ambers friend silently squeal behind me.
“Of course” She smiled while getting up and moving past her crowd of friends. I led her out into the hallway just outside of the dining room, if that’s even what that’s called, and looked to her. The smile never left her face as she stared into my eyes.
I cleared my throat before speaking “Umm, have you seen Kat?”
Amber looked taken back by the question before she shrugged “I saw her before dinner but when I said it was time to eat she freaked out and ran away. I’m sure she’s back at our room by now” Ambers smile reappeared on her lips as she moved her body closer to me.
“You know, you’re very handsome Mr.Styles” Ambers hand moved to my shoulder as she played with one of my necklaces around my neck.
I felt uncomfortable as she moved closer, and the Mr. Styles thing? No that’s just weird. Obviously this was Ambers failed attempt at flirting.
“Thank you but I have to go find Kat, I’ll see you later Amber” Before she could get any closer I turned my back to her and headed in the direction of her and Kat’s room.
Kat’s POV.
Dim lights filled my surrounding as I wondered down the seemingly never ending hallway. I had no idea where I was but I kind of enjoyed the quiet area of the place. I know I only got here today but Amber is already getting on my nerves.
I stretched my arm out, letting my fingers trail along the wall beside me. The further I got down the hallway the darker it seemed to get. Even though I felt uneasy near the dark I continued down the corridor.
Out of nowhere I felt myself fall to the floor over a long hard bump in the ground. My hands immediately placed in front of me, blocking my fall from hurting badly. I groaned as I hit the floor, the hard surface below me now.
“Ow” A soft voice caused me to slightly jump. I sat up quickly, turning in the direction the voice came from. My vision made out a small silhouette of a strangers face. Their eye’s met with mine and I was instantly nervous.
Too shocked to say anything I just sat on the floor in front of this other person who I had just tripped over.
“Uhh… sorry” I stuttered in a loss of words.
The person appeared to shrug before getting up. An arm stretched out to me which I took carefully. The stranger hoisting me back up onto my feet nicely. The dim light let me make out limited features. Dirty blonde hair fell upon her shoulders as her long bangs mainly covered one side of her face.
“I’m Kiara.” She spoke as she began to walk in the direction I came from. Keeping my feet solid I watched as she walked ahead. She turned her head slightly smirking “Are you gunna stay here by yourself?”
I shook my head before stumbling towards her. We walked quietly in an unknown direction. My nerves were on edge, seeing as Kiara was not known by me. I struggled to look past my nerves as I continued to follow her.
Kiara turned to me before breaking the silence between us “I know being new here is hard, kind of like when you move schools, so do you want to come eat in my room instead of the crowded dining area where everyone else eats?”
I was unaware of what to say and silently contemplated my decision. To my fathe,r me saying yes would be considered selfish, but I am here to forget everything and trust people again. The people here are here for the same reason I am and I am sure they arn't as bad as they seem.
I sighed, overcoming my fears and nerves while agreeing to go with her. If I was going to be staying here I might as well make one friend.
