I've always been, let's say, chubby. In fact, until one day in 8th after school, I'd never even gave it a second thought. That is until my mom said something.
Usually after school I'd come home and eat, since I rarely at lunch at school , and sit down at our dinning room table and open a book at the same time. But when I was eating some leftovers from last night and reading, my mom was acting very weird. She wasn't looking me directly in the eye and when I tried to say hi to her on the home from school she just gave me a simple "hey" and then got back to driving. But I didn't think I would be able to take it any longer so I put my bookmark in my book, scooted out of my chair and walked over to her by where she was sitting on the coach filling out some bills.
"Mom, is everything okay?" I said while at the same time sat down next to her on the couch.
"Actually," she said in a very quiet voice, "I got a call earlier today, while you were at school, from Dr Lee about something he found in the blood he took from you on Monday."
I had just been to the doctors after school 2 days ago for my yearly checkup, since I had just turned 13 less than 2 weeks ago, and Dr Lee had taken some blood samples like we do every year. I didn't think it important but apparently I was wrong.
"What about it?" I asked trying to hide the nervous tone in my voice but not doing a very good job at it.
"You know how you had always had a..." She took a pause while I assumed she was trying find the right word "a, let's say, 'pear' shaped body."
A pear shaped body? What was that supposed to mean? I wrapped my arms around myself suddenly feeling self conscious.
"Well, now...um... " I could tell she was having a hard time saying what she was about to say, " in the the blood he found signs that may lead to obesity" she said with shiny eyes that I can only imagine were tears.
I wanted to say something but the words wouldn't come out.
"We may be able to stop it from becoming obesity if you start watching everything you eat and by exercising more. Maybe even start sports." She said with confidence in her voice.
That was almost 5 years ago and now I am the most self conscious person you will ever meet. Ever since that day I've been trying to become the hour glass person society wants me to be. I don't have obesity but I still always have that chance.
I am a pear and I'm not so sure I like it.
Hey guys(or at least my one friend that is reading this)!! I will try to update every day or so but school just started so we shall see!
Hope u liked it so far!-gabster2
