Wendy woke again to the usual chaos. Today her and her group of girls were to go to town and buy food. This usually meant they were allowed an early bath and to dress in their nicest clothes. The girls used to always buy a little less than what was instructed and get everyone sweets with the extra, but after a few months they were given more money so they could buy what was instructed and still get the sweets. They figured Mr, or Mrs. Darling figured out what was going on.
"Come on girls lets get going with the day we have lots to do. We were also put on kitchen duty." One of the younger girls said a little louder than necessary.
The girls all left in a bustle. Full of giggles and smiles. They were all happy to be out of the house, to roam freely about the town and buy things. They felt normal while doing this.
A few of the girls mentioned the arrival of Pan and spoke of silly girlish things. One girl swore he kissed her cheek and that brought forth laughs from everyone, except Wendy. She felt jealous for some reason. She didn't like the feeling. They all called the young girl out on her fib and continued on their way.
Wendy, being the eldest of them, carried the money. She mostly bought everything and made sure all the girls stuck together, all six of them.
She bought the required amount of food supplies and lead the girl toward the sweet shop. She kept them outside while she bought the sugar drops.

The girls returned to the orphanage two hours later. Wendy instructed the girls to go change into their cleaning clothes while she put the groceries away.
She wandered into the kitchen to find Pan. He was sweaty and wearing his shirt with the top few buttons undone. He looked marvelous.
"Hello there Miss Wendy. You look simply beautiful today. Is that a new dress? I think it's very becoming." Pan smiled his breathtaking smile and bit into his sandwich.
"Why good afternoon Mr. Pan. I didn't see you there. No this isn't new. I've had it for quite some time. Thank you for the compliment." Wendy smiled her sweetest smile possible. And rushed around the kitchen to put everything away.
Pan watched her as she bustled about the kitchen trying to put things away as fast as possible. She heard Pan move. He's leaving she thought. She turned around only to find Pan standing very close to her. He looked down at her with his magnificent green eyes and smiled at her.
"I was wondering if you would like some help. I noticed the other girls were upstairs and left you with all the work of putting things away." He blinked slowly.
"I um. I told the girls to go get into their work clothes and I would put the food away. They wouldn't know where to put it anyway...and I usually do it. It doesn't bother me." Wendy was blushing. She was so nervous. Why she asked herself silently. She looked up into his eyes and everything went deadly quiet.
Pan moved quickly. He grabbed Wendy around the waist and pulled her close with one arm. With his other he tilted her chin up to meet her mouth with his.
Wendy, eyes wide with shock, just let this happen. She didn't know what to do. She had never had anything like this happen to her before.
After her initial few seconds of shock she closed her eyes and relaxed. She melted into him. Her arms wrapped around his neck and her mouth pressed into his.
He seemed eager to kiss her. His lips crushing hers making the blood rush to them and making them swell. He stopped kissing Wendy and looked down at her. She smiled up at him shyly. He lightly brushed his lips over hers. Released her from his hold around her waist and started putting the groceries away as if nothing happened.
Wendy stood there for a moment lost. Then stumbled about putting things away. She figured it was a good thing they ended their kiss because the girls came down and started to work in the kitchen. Pan left after they showed up. He handed Wendy a small piece of paper before heading back down to the boiler rooms.

Wendy went to her section of the large bedroom to reads the note Pan had given her. It had been burning a hole in her dress pocket the entire time she and the girls were cleaning.
In a scrawl it said "meet me up in my room at eight. I have something to show you." Wendy was nervous. She had never been in a boys room while the boy was in it. Least not alone.
Wendy left at seven fifty-five. That would give her plenty of time to get to his room without being noticed.
When she got there she quietly knocked on his door. She was incredibly nervous. She pressed a hand to her lower abdomen. He answered the door and smiled down at her. He looked down the hallway then let her inside.
It was dimly lit and Wendy noticed his bags were still unpacked.
"Wendy I asked you here to show you something about me that I don't often show people." He wasn't smiling anymore. He was completely serious. This made Wendy more nervous than before. He could be showing her any number of things.
Pan went over to the candle he had burning and moved it to some other candles on the table. The room slowly grew lighter. He then went to the center of the room where it was the most spacious.
"Wendy whatever you do not scream. That will only cause problems for the both of us. Problems we do not need."
Wendy shook her head vigorously. Pan nodded to her then spread his legs so they  aligned with his shoulders. He then let out a low growling noise. All the veins in his neck and arms were popping out. Suddenly something feathery and black sprouted out of peters back. Wings.
Wendy stared in awe. Shocked she stumbled backward into the wall. She didn't make a sound. She dare not move a muscle. She wasn't afraid more than intrigued.
Wendy pushed herself away from the wall and walked cautiously toward Pan. She carefully reached up around his neck and looked into his eyes. She kissed him on the cheek.
He looked down at her a raised his eyebrows. "Your not afraid of me?"
"No I'm not. I'm just curious as to how you did this. It's...incredible. Can you actually fly?"
"Yes I can. Would you like to fly with me? Actually one of the reasons I asked you up here is to see if you would come with me. I have to fly back to where I came from and I was curious if you wanted to go. I can tell you don't really like it here. Where I live everything is beautiful and-you'll love it. So...what do ya say?" Pan looked at her hopefully.
Wendy could tell he wanted her to go with him. She honestly did want to go. She really didn't like it here at the orphanage.
"I'll go. Just let me get a few things. I'll be right back."
He nodded. Wendy was about to run out and go straight to her room but Pan stopped her by grabbing her around the waist to give her another gentle kiss.

Wendy put on her best dress and grabbed her few belongings. Her hand mirror, a comb, and a thin silver chain necklace.
She ran back up to Pan's room and looked at him. He had put on a shirt with two slits in it for his wings to go through. They were black and looked glossy like a ravens. Just one of them was the same length as him.
He smiled and held out his hand for her. He tied his bags to his upper thighs and Wendy and him together at the waist.
"So where exactly are we going?" Wendy questioned him as he was making sure everything was secure.
"First star to the left and straight until dusk." He answered her. He looked at her with a serious stare. "Hold on tight. I can't promise that these ropes will hold the entire way."
Before Wendy could question him about anything else they were off. They went straight through his window. Wendy looked back and saw it was still closed yet nothing had broken. She squinted to see through the window. Just before she was out of viewing range she saw a body on the floor of the room. It was hers.
