THEY both heard a squeal but it was just Woozi. His cheeks were the sharpest red of crimson that existed in the entire spectrum of life. "Bro, you're such a girl." She commented disgustedly but smiled politely.
"Y-y-y-yo-ou think I-I-I'm c-c-cu-cute, Ja?" He stuttered and she nodded as if it was obvious. "Yup. Anyway, I have lots of homework and thanks for helping me with this useless thing," she pointed at her bandaged nose. "So, peace out, Jihoon-Moon!"
Ja vanished faster than ever and the nurse's cheeks were still red. He savored every moment that she stared at him and smiled. She had mentioned that she knew she was ugly but she wasn't.
He had always ignored the saying, 'Don't judge a book by its cover' but now, he realized it. To him, she was an adorable, tiny girl, who always picked fights and had a big heart. His old self would have ridiculed her, which is a horrible truth, but now, he can't seem to find anything wrong with her.
Her pixie cut made her even cuter. All those scars, bruises, and scratches on her faces made her unique. Her aggressiveness made her cute. And that was when he realized that he had hopelessly and inevitably fallen in love with Choi Ja.
"Jihoon!" The nurses called him out of his daze and he sighed dreamily before going back to his job.
Ja felt like coughing all the way over to her home but was relieved when the urge vanished as soon as she arrived home.
Her nose felt like it had fallen off, due to the numbness. She entered and there they were; Hansol and Cho Hee at the table, eating dinner with their parents. The younger girl sighed and tried to go to her room, only to be stopped by Soobin.
"Oi, Ja! Come back and eat dinner with us!" Ja turned around for them to cease whatever they were doing and gasp melodramatically. "Whatever happened to your face?" The girl just shrugged and walked over to the family.
Hansol tried one of his weirdly adorable smiles and Ja just snarled at him, playfully of course, but the boy took it seriously. Soobin smacked Ja's good arm and scolded her. "Ja! Behave! This is no way to be!" She rolled her eyes in response.
Jisoo was cutting his salmon and did not look up at her when he noted, "Yes, Ja, be a good girl like your sister. She brought home a good man to dinner and she even has a job," He finally looked up at her, his glasses at the very end of his nose. "You should be more like your sister." The girl sighed and ruffled her hair at her father's words.
Cho Hee nodded in agreement, finally over being super nice but also cruel to Ja. Hansol looked down. "Well, I'll be in my room." Ja said and they ignored her, as they continued eating with useless chatter.
Ja felt like ripping her door of its hinges but just closed it gently. She collapsed onto the bed and groaned into her sheets until slipping into her comfortable clothes.
Hours passed by as she worked on her homework. Physics was a pain in the butt to her but it was doable. It was around nine when she closed her binder. "I'm done?" Ja asked before breaking her pencil in half. "I'm done!" She pumped her fist into the air until her phone began to vibrate.
The girl groaned but checked the caller I.D. to see that it was Jihoon-Moon.
She pressed the green button and put it to her ear. "Yoooo!" Ja whooped into the phone and his laughter resounded. "Good evening, Ja. How's your nose?" She poked it and grimaced. "It hurts but it's great!"
She spun around in her rolling chair. "Why did you call me?" Her question seemed to cause him to hesitate but he answered with, "I wanted to hear your voice. Vernon texted me that you were upset."
A low growl came from deep in her throat. "Tell him to see a doctor because he's blind! I'm happy, Woozi! I finished with my homework!" She screeched into the cellular device and could hear complaining from the background.
