Chapter 1

 I have a theory.

I think there are two kinds of the color white. First, there is the soft welcoming color, that is associated with Heaven and hotel room bed sheets and pillows. Then, there is the harsh overly sterile white, that burns your eyes and gives you a nasty headache.

If I had to describe the color of the tiny, cramped hospital room that I'm in right now, I'd probably say the latter. The canvas sheets feel rough between my index finger and thumb. I feel like I haven't showered in days, which I probably haven't.

I feel a faint tap on my shoulder and I look up to see a pair of icy blue eyes. He smiles and runs a hand through his blonde-ish hair. I must say, this guy is pretty attractive.

"You're awake..." He whispers. He stares at me for a solid minute...

Creep alert!

"You're awake!" He shouts, his smile growing.

He grabs me by the shoulders and plants a kiss square on my mouth. I stay still for a moment, letting him kiss me before I realize what is happening. I shove the guy away and glare at him. "Dude, you're quite attractive, so you've got that going for you, but if you want to pick up chicks, randomly kissing them is probably not the best way."

"Tessie?" He asks shocked. "Tessie I know the proposal was too soon, and I'm sorry, but I missed you so much and I-"

I cut him off from his rambling.

"I'm sorry buddy, you've got the wrong gal here. I have no idea who you are, or this Tessie chick. I'm incredibly tired and my head is throbbing, so if you could just leave me alone, that would be much appreciated."

"What are you talking about? It's me, Caleb...What?.." He trails off before looking right at me. "Oh god, No Tessie. If you're messing around stop. Oh god..." He mumbles before leaning forward, and invading my space bubble.

"What is your name?" His eyes search mine frantically.

I just stare at him, confused. Honestly, he's starting to get on my nerves. "Will that make you leave? If I tell you my name? Cause honestly, I think it's a little too soon to be flirting-"

"God Dammit! Just tell me your name!" He roars. I gape at him slightly, before covering it up.

"Fine." I glare at him. "My name is-" I stop short for a second.

I look at Caleb and chuckle awkwardly. What is my name?

"My name is..." I start again, but nothing comes up. I start to panic a little bit. I try to remember anything. My birthday, my parents, anything, but nothing surfaces.

"What is going on?" I stare at Caleb accusingly. "Who are you? What is happening? Is this some kind of sick joke? Oh my god, WHAT IS HAPPENING?" I start sobbing, and I can't breathe. My chest heaves up and down. I can't focus.

Caleb jumps into action and runs to the door. "Nurse! Nurse! I need a nurse! She's freaking out, she needs help!"

A small woman rushes holding a small tray of equipment.

"It's okay sweetie, you're gonna be just fine." With that she jabs a needle into the crook of my elbow, and I instantly feel tired.

The last thing I see is Caleb's worried face hovering over mine before I fall into a deep slumber.

The first thing that comes back is my sense of smell. The stench of antibiotics and Purell is so strong my nose burns.

Next, its my sense of touch. I still feel rough canvas sheets and a stiff bed beneath me.

After that, it's my hearing. I hear heels clicking on tile and soft whispering. I try to focus on what the voices are saying.
