Cassidy stared into her steaming cup of chai tea, her favorite, as the noises of the coffee shop mingled with her muddled thoughts.
"Hello?" a voice swam up in the back of her mind,"Hello? Earth to Cassidy. Are you in there?" It was her friend Mark.
"What? Oh, hey Mark."
"Your tea is going to get cold if you don't drink it," Mark chuckled.
Cassidy let out a small laugh, and then continued staring into the great abyss of liquid.
"Seriously, Cass, cheer up. It's not like we won't ever get to see or talk to you again." Another voice chimed in.
"Yah, I mean, if only there was a device that allowed us to send audio messages of our voice across long distances." Inquired a second, similar voice. It was the twins Andrew and Ana, they were always trying to cheer everybody up.
Cass laughed at the old joke, "I know, I know." she let out a sigh,"It's just, I'm going to miss you all so much. I mean I can't even describe what highschool will be like without you!"
Angela gave her a hug, "I know, and we will miss you too, but I believe that you can make new friends and still have an awesome highschool experience. Even if you don't have all of us."
Cass sniffled, Angela always knew exactly what to say to make her feel better. Dang was she going to miss her. She was going to miss everyone, especially the people sitting around the wooden table in Starbucks with her, Mark, Andrew, Anna, Cloe. And Angela, she was going to miss her so much it would hurt.
Someone squeezed her hand, Cloe, "Hey, you'll be fine. And if you ever feel overwhelmed, just give us a call." She reassured.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Since when have you spoken for everyone?" Mark. "She can text me too." He added with a chuckle.
Soon the whole table was cracking up, all from Mark's dumb joke. Cass decided that this is what she would miss the most, sitting around a table in a coffe shop with her bestfriends laughing at all of the stupid things they do. Yah. She would miss that alot.
She still couldn't believe that in one week she was going with her parents to Northern California and would have to start her life all over. It felt like her whole world was just shattered. At least I don't have a boyfriend, she thought internally, that would be much much worse.
"Okay everone,"Andrew said, "let's ditch this place and do something fun. You know, to remember our time together. So...the bookstore anybody?" A chorus of yeses and yahs resounded from the small group of friends as they all walked out of the Starbucks.
Little did they know that that would be one of the last times they would ever be able to do that all together again.
