I experienced joy and the immensity of it,
I experienced pain and the suffering of it,
I existed within the spectrum
between the two extremes of joy and misery.

I indulged in the eternity of one
until the roles reversed.
Then I indulged in the eternity of the other
until it reversed again.

Drenched in rain that could never touch my skin,
I drowned and surfaced incessantly—
dry, as I have always been.

I lived countless lifetimes
within the blinking of my eyes.
I experienced the darkness
and was astounded by the light.

Desire, anger, fear, pleasure, agony—
a myriad of emotions
I built through thoughts
over the same silent sensation.
I saw them all,
just for the sake of seeing.

The name, the gender, the religion, the relationships—
they covered me
like warm clothes cover a newborn.
Yet I was never born,
only a witness
to all these coverings.

Forgotten,
I was by myself.
Lost,in a world that taught me to be unkind
when kindness was the only reality.

Anxious,
in the compulsion to be responsible,
as if I were in control
of the unknowable universe.

Hurt I was,
trapped in a century of forever,
when forgiveness
was the only freedom.

Strong I became,
in order to survive,
when acceptance
was never a weakness.

The hypnosis of validation,
the chase for approval—
they drove me
to become everything
other than who I already was.

I was the very source
in which the whole existence
dances in totality.

And when I stood in that understanding,
I saw–
the opposite of love was never hate,
It was 'me', the ego.

In that seeing,
the me dissolved.
I became Love–
who I have always been.
