Squeezing my eyes shut tightly, I attempt to fall asleep, but I can't. I look to my left and see Alec, his breathing calm and steady, I have no idea how he can sleep in this place. Then I turn my head to look at James and I see his shadow moving towards me. I let out a small gasp as he lifts my blanket up squeezing his body next to mine. He lies very still, obviously trying not to fall off the irregularly small bed. He moves his head to the right to look at my face, our faces millimetres apart. The blue UV light casts shadows making his face seem more angular and sharp, his cheekbones stand out, his jaw line strong and hard. Staring into his enduring chocolate brown eyes, I notice the tiny gold flecks surrounding his pupil, I think I'm drowning in his eyes. I wonder what he sees in me. A smirk appears on his face and I let out a giggle. Underneath the blanket, he tries to find my hand so I move it and place it over his, then our hands lock together. We don't say anything for a while, letting the silence speak for us. All of a sudden James whispers "This is nice." the silent moment now over. I nod lightly in agreement. This is nice, really nice. "I thought," he explains "that you'd want some company because I could tell you couldn't sleep and neither could I, and It's not as if we could have gone out and looked at the stars. Unless we wanted to get shot." I laugh, knowing that I had thought of that earlier. "So, I kindly asked that soldier, Connor, if I could have my phone back, so he gave it me and I got this astrology space app thing so we can see where stars are even if we can't actually see them." This is such an amazing thought, and I'm ecstatic that he's done this. I feel my stomach flutter with butterflies and my heart races. He raises the phone high above our faces and moves it around us. "This is such a great app!" I exclaim, "Oh look there's Mars! That constellation is beautiful!" He sees how happy I am and he dreamily smiles at me. "Thank you." I say softly smiling back at him. I wonder why you can't see Seren or Vad on there, because from what I remember they're not that far from here.
James leans over me and kisses my forehead lightly and lovingly before tip toeing back to his bed. We say goodnight to each other and I finally drift off into a deep sleep, a large grin plastered on my face.
