---Kyle's POV---

Reading over the report of the expansion of the territory, I couldn't help but let out a relieved sigh. Just as Drake had predicted, the second we started expanding the wild wolves territory and matched their territory with ours, the pack had been inquired time and time again by the same greedy humans that had contacted Drake in the past.

People who had inquired if the mountainside had valuable resources inside and had offered obscene amounts of money in order to sway Drake into parting with our territory. And when they had been rejected several times, they had sent a few of their men, thinking they could simply sneak around pack territory and find out what we were hiding.

To say they had been given quite the scare was an understatement. Not only did they stumble into our patrol almost instantly but the wild wolves were not too pleased by having random people violate their territory.

It seemed Shadow quite enjoyed chasing down the humans and pinning them to the floor before the pack could even move a muscle. Naturally the Council took care of the nuisance and verified if it was just human interference or someone working in the background.

Luckily for us, it was merely the stupidity and greed of humanity and not something more sinister.

Now we were several months after that event and finalized the expansion. Deciding against actual fences to keep the wolves contained, we simply let them roam free. Hoping that naturally, they'd feel more secure to the territory our pack had established and remain close.

Luck was at our side, as none of the wolves had ventured far out of the territory. A few instances they had ventured out, merely chasing after prey during a hunt. They seemed to thrive now that they received even more freedom, often joining our patrols on their daily runs and venturing from house to house in order to visit their favourite humans.

Now everyone could receive all-round affection of their wolves and not merely when they managed to find the time and energy to visit them. Somehow, those bonded wolves instinctively knew when their human needed them and ended up finding them shortly after.

Especially when their bonded were low energy and couldn't find it in themselves to trek towards the enclosure.

"How's the council going to deal with the humans who tried to invade?" I questioned as the thought had been lingering in my mind quite a bit. The Council was against the supernatural world interfering with the humans too much, though nothing could be done when mating bonds naturally occurred between the species.

Drake chuckled at that, scratching at the light stubble that darkened his chin. "Depends on if they're innocent or guiled by a supernatural. Innocent ones are released with a simple memory cleanse to make sure no details of the supernatural world escapes. Usually they plant in a very convincing memory of going out and having too much alcohol, explaining the sudden loss of memory."

The explanation made me choke at the thought of the people who had snuck into our territory, now waking up in an alley behind a popular bar and a emptied bottle of Tequilla near them. "That'll only work for short-term memory though. What happens with the days or even weeks of them planning to get in here?"

At that Drake shrugged, eyes full of amusement as he murmured "There are plenty in the Council who have unique abilities and even the weakest vampire in existence can beguile most humans with a mere smile." The Alpha leaned back on the couch and smirked, "Either they transform the memories into something else altogether or they simply make sure that they forget the important details."

"Basically, they'll know they went to a meeting before heading out but have no recollection what the meeting was all about." I summarized slowly, hands rubbing over my face when Drake made a noise of agreement. "Didn't know things were that easily influenced."
