Chapter 6: "So what's your story?"
After Anastasia finished Clarissa's outfit in total, she got out a full body mirror and put it by her window, letting, Clarissa see how she looked in one of the many new outfits she would be wearing.
Clarissa stood in front of the mirror and stared at her brown hair that was in a curly side ponytail with few strands of hair neatly framing her face.
She batted her eyelashes, her dark brown eyes swirling with complete shock. She never knew that she could even look this nice. She was so used to all of the rags instead of riches.
Anastasia bit her lip in hope. "Do you like it? We have tons more options for outfit styles."
Clarissa nodded, giving a small smile. "I... I love it." She paused to look down at her shoes for a moment. "I never imagined being able to wear all this stuff. Thank you for doing this."
Anastasia hugged Clarissa tightly. "I'm so glad you like it! Why don't you go befriend my brother, Brandon, while I pick out more outfits for you and I?" She shuffled through the closet again and her makeup purse that was resting on the bed. "He's funny. You'll like him."
Take more clothes, money, and food when she's not looking. She'll never know. Run. We can't trust anyone.
"Shut up. Shut up. Shut up." Clarissa mumbled under her breath, trying her best to ignore the voice.
"Hmm?"
"Nothing." She sighed awkwardly, not meaning for Anastasia to even hear that.
Anastasia shrugged. "By the way, we'll be going to the mall later."
"Okay..." Clarissa knew what a mall was, but unfortunately she had never stepped foot in one of them. All she had heard about malls were that they were large and had tons of shops that you can easily get lost in. It surely wasn't a place she wanted to go to. She already had trouble finding her way around Brianna's house before she escaped and wasn't planning on getting lost again.
She exited Anastasia's bedroom and went downstairs to find her brother. "Helloooo? Hullooooo?!" Clarissa called out loudly.
"I'm here!" A boy's voice called out from one of the rooms. "Uh, I mean, I'm in my man cave...? No, no, wait. I'm in my cool-man cave. Nevermind, turn left and I'm in the room that has a sign says 'Allergic To People.'
That's a stupid sign. If you're allergic to people why would you invite us in?
"That's none of your business! Be quiet!" Clarissa snapped, mentally scoffing at the voices and following Brandon's directions.
She looked around the room, seeing tons of video games in a large pile, an unmade bed, a humongous closet, and a flat screen TV. "Nice room..." She sat down on a blue beanbag next to his red one, the urge to pick the nail polish that Anastasia had put on her nails becoming stronger and stronger.
Brandon held out a video game controller for Clarissa and gave her a lazy side grin, his brunette bangs cover some of his blue eyes. "Wanna play? I can teach you."
Clarissa's eyes widened and she shook her head immediately. "Oh no. No, no, no. That's alright. I'll just watch you play..." She didn't really want to embarrass herself if she kept on failing after he taught her how to play the game.
"Nah, we can just talk or something." Brandon paused the game and put the controller next to him, scooting closer to Clarissa until he was sitting Indian Style directly in front of her.
"Okay. What should we talk about?"
"I wanna know more about you. You seem like that person who has a ton of secrets. That person whose waiting for the right friend to share those secrets with. And I'll be that friend!" He grinned.
Clarissa smiled. She was surprised that she was actually making friends. First Anastasia and now Brandon.
"Maybe doing this project won't be as hard as I thought it would be." She thought.
Brandon interrupted her thoughts, staring directly at her. "So, what's your story?"
