Chapter Seven

"I cant believe that we caught all these stores while they're having a sale." Joann said.

"I know. Im glad we came or we would've missed out." I responded lifting up the bags in my hands.

We headed over to the food court to grab a bite to eat.

"Im glad to see you've cherred up." Joann said with a smile.

"Ya. Buying new things can do that for you. Expecially when somebody else is treating." I responded as I sipped on my drink.

Joann laughed.

"What time is it?" I questioned.

"4:30."

"The party starts as nine right?"

"Yeah."

"Okay."

Joann and I continued to chit chat until a familiar face came to greet us at our table.

"Ladies ladies." Javon said as he walked up to our table.

"Hey Javon." Joann and I said in unison.

"What yall up too?" He asked.

"Besides eating, what else is there to do in a mall?" Joann said.

"Im just askin shawty."

"What about you?" I asked him.

"Oh me and my boy just stopped by to pick up some new gear. Nothing major."

"Where is ya boy?" Joann questioned.

"Somewhere. Thats a grown ass man, I aint got to watch him." He reponded.

Joann and I didnt say anything.

"So Joann.." He started.

"What.."

"Why you gotta give a nigga attitude man?"

"What do you want boy."

"You."

Joann rolled her eyes as Javon spoke to her.

"Aye Javon." We heard someone call.

"Whats good Sean." Javon said getting up from the table to meet him halfway.

They talked away from the table for awhile.

"Aint this a bitch. You jinksed me." Joann said.

"We jinksed eachother!" I said laughing.

Javon and Sean walked back over to the table.

"Whats up Trina, Joann." Sean greeted.

"Hey Sean." I said.

"Hey." Joann responded.

"Yall here together?"He asked.

"Nah. Im here with my homeboy." Javon said.

"Oh."

"So Sean are you going to the party tonight." Joann asked.

"Yeah, Ima go to see whats up. Yall going?"

"We might." Joann said.

"Oh so you can answer Sean but not me?" Javon said to Joann.

"Get out yo feelings Javon dang."

"You changed your mind Trina, I thought we were chillin together." Sean said.

"Nah Imma go."

"Good cause Im looking forward to it." Sean said as he winked at me. "But let me get up out of here man." He said as he got up giving Javon dap.

"Aight man." Javon said.

"Aint its time for you to leave too?" Joann asked Javon.

"Nah I like being close to you." He said.

"And thats my que." Joann responded as she got up from the table. "You ready Trina?"

"Yeah." I answered as I got up shaking my head. "See ya later Javon."

"Bye Trina." Javon said as he laughed. "You can run but you cant hide Joann." He yelled.

We kept walking.

"Joann."

"Trina."

"You know what they say.." I started.

"What?" she asked.

"The ones that we never want is always the one that we need." I said.

"Javon is not what I need. Plus I didnt say I would never date him."

"Im just saying tho." I said throwing my hands up in defense.

"How bout you date him then."

"Girl I dont want no Javon."

"See what I mean." She laughed.

"He dont want me. He wants you." I said.

"Trina."

I heard someone call from behind me.

Joann and I turned around to see Rashad posted up on a wall of a store.

"Hey Rashad." I said meeting him halfway.

"Whats good Trina." He looked over my shoulder. "Joann."

"Hey Rashad." She answered.

"You here with Javon?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Oh. Well we were just leaving so I guess I'll see you at the party later on."

"Nah, I dont think I'm going."

"Why. Youre a newbie so thats the perfect time to mingle."

"Not my scene."

"Umh. Well I'll see you later then. I guess.."

"Yea.."

I turned around and walked back over to Joann.

"What was that." She asked once I reached her.

"What?" I said acting dumb.

"That. The boy just moved here and yall talking like yall been knowing eachother for years."

"We just understand eachother."

"Nah thats more than that chica."

"Well, I might have left out some events from the dinner."

"And what was that?"

I started telling Joann about the run in Rashad and I had the night of the dinner.

"And why didnt you tell me this?"

"I didnt think it was important, let alone something to tell."

"It dont matter, you know I wanna know."

"With yo nosey ass."

"You right."

"I like him, I think he's good looking but Im not gone jump on his dick just because we click."

"Shit I would." Joann said without a care.

"Nah you can jump on Javon's dick tho."

"Aint shit to jump on."

"He aint packing shit."

"And how you know Joann, you ever seen it."

"Nope."

"Okay then."

"Im just saying.. you gotta be hangin if you trying to slide up in these walls."

"You let anything come out yo mouth girl."

She laughed.

"Aye, All I know how to do is keep it real."

"If it turns out you wrong and ole boy packing heavy.. dont try to be his babymama na."

"Aint no babymama bih. I just want the pipe babyy." Joann said.

We burst out into laughter.
