Amy sat at her desk soaking in the silence she was finally given. Johnny had taken Zachary to the rink for alittle practice and Riley had been laid down for her nap. So, with the clock reading 5:37 and no one to bug her, Amy pulled out her colored pencils and began on her gift to Jonathan.
Her hand carefully crafted the first words to the list. After a few loops colored in the red, Amy plastered the cut-in-half notecard to the playing card.
Those chocolate browns...................
2 Years Earlier
Amy sat on the soft couch rubbing her now enlarged belly. She sighed contently and leaned her head back closing her eyes. When they reopened, they came face to face with the chocolate browns eyes she had fallen madly in love with. Before long, her eyes were closed once again as she kissed her husband.Jonathan broke the kiss before walking around the couch and sitting next to his best friend. Her pecked on the lips. "Hey baby." He smiled then rubbed her stomach," Hey other baby."
Amy looked at him with concern. "I'm a week past due. What if there's something wrong?"
Jonathan smiled sympathetically and cupped her face whilst rubbing her cheek with his thumb. "They, whether a boy or a girl, are going to be perfect and I'm going to love them with all my heart."
Amy closed her eyes before melting into his hand. They stayed like that in their own little joyful world. After a few seconds, Army's eyes shot open her hand flying to her stomach as she sat up. Jonathan sat up as well eyes filled with concern as she gripped his wife's shoulder. She grabbed his arm her nails digging into his skin.
"Jonathan, I think my water just broke."
...............
Amys breath was quick causing Jonathan slight concern. She closed her eyes tightly. Her body leaned forward as her lips released a painful groan. The nurses voice could be heard counting down the seconds until a beautiful new life was brought into the world. Jonathan smiled. They had decided to wait to find out the gender. He was absolutely certain it was going to be a girl.A faint cry was heard as Amy leaned back onto the bed exhausted. The nurse wrapped in a blanket proclaiming the good news that they now had a beautiful baby girl.
Jonathan looked at his wife. Her skin was covered in sweat and face was red. He pushed some hair behind her ear, "You hear that, Honey, its a girl. A beautiful girl."
The nurse handed Amy her daughter. She held onto the small child not wanting to let it go. The baby slightly moved not opening its eyes. Jonathan sat behind Amy rubbing his princess' small head. He was handed the small bundle and sat there awkwardly not knowing how to hold it. He whispered the name the two of them had decided on in the event it was a girl, "Riley."
He handed the Riley back to his wife before kissing her on the head. "I'm gonna go tell the news." Amy nodded before Jonathan left to tell the team and families sitting in the waiting room.
Amy looked at the small human she had created. Riley stirred the opened her eyes to reveal the beautiful chocolate brown she had fallen in love with. Now she was falling in love with them all over again.

Present
Amy smiled then placed the card in the 'completed' pile. She picked up a picture of her and Jonathan they had taken when she had gotten back from France. Jonathan's eyes were teary after discovering the love his life was still alive. She smiled and continued to love those chocolate browns..................
