Phil's P.O.V:

How could I be such a baka*! I forgot my coat today, I already and finished up the day's lodging and I was ready to go home, and at the moment I felt the cold bitting my skin I checked my pockets on the light blue kimono and found...

NOTHING! UGGGHHHHH!

I put on my hat. I had to make it all across on foot, I didn't have a fancy horse like others do, but at least I was wearing market place shoes, so by the tall wooden heels I could not freeze. I kept on walking, when something spotted my eye.

It was white, and red.

A CRANE!

Why would it be over there, crane's are usually never seen standing. I saw it try to fly and flap it's wings, at that moment I could see the problem, it was trapped! A brown, rough cord kept it's foot attached to the ground, it's body unable to fly. I knew I shouldn't do this but, I looked around, in the snow no one was in sight. So I approached it hunching and tried to calm it  down.

"You poor thing" I said. The Crane started cawing.

"Shhhh. Stay quiet or they'll find us" Then I added quickly."I'm not the hunter just keep still"

It trusted me and I approached carefully it's foot, I knew about records of cranes attacking humans and I did not want to be one of the unlucky ones. I carefully but the cord with a small knife I carried. I do always remember to bring useless stuff though, at least it's useful now! It walked of, and I will never forget about this detail, IT BOWED! I said something :

"Oh, king of birds may you face luck in your life and never be put in this situation again."

It flew off and left me, my black hair filling with snowflakes in the winter's night, a thousand stars shining in my eyes.

I woke up with the sun on my face, I could hear a rooster scream in the distance, my eyes slowly opened while I lay on my futon bed. My body etched in the pillows, I woke up.

I stared at the ceiling for a while. I quickly got up and put my Yukata (a casual kimono) on, this pattern was navy blue with etched circles in white also it had a white and black obi (belt), my favorite.  It was going to be a long day.

I wrapped my belongings for the day in a furoshiki**. My bento*** was packed as well as my axe and other scavenging items (I did not forget the coat today though).

I opened the door and walked out to my deck. My eyes were met by fresh yuki****, white on the ground like feathers scattered about. I put on my sandals and started walking the path outside my home, I walked to a temple, went to side of the red gate and cleansed my mind, body and soul with the sacred water.

I prayed to amatseratsu***** and since I was already here, decided to buy myself a fortune.

I walked over to the stand and bought a fortune from a lady in a pink kimono. I unfolded the white paper and read: Today you will find an unexpected gift and you should count it as your blessing because you may loose it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Each story will be three chapters long so I guess this chapter is done!!!!!!

What did that mean again? TIME:

* baka: stupid in japanese

**furoshiki: a special way of folding a handkerchief so it makes a portable bag

***bento: A type of packed lunch in Japan!

****yuki: If you did not figure this one out by context clues then this means snow in japanese! YAY FOR LEARNING!!

*****amatseratsu: main godess in the shinto religion she is the kami of the sun.(NOTE: Kami are not gods but spirits of nature, kami can be gods [such as amatseratsu], just creatures such as demons or faeries or just an entity of other kind)
