Have you ever loved someone, then fallen for another?

These arms used to love you but they've fallen for someone else, I'm sorry.

I'd love to touch you again but I can't,

These lips are blistered from the cold and these hands can't feel anymore.

There are so many things I wish I could tell you,

But my words are a tangled mess of wrongly placed apologies and a few select curses I reserve for only you.

The place where your hands used to grace my hips has long since been taken,

By newly painted red signs that clearly read: TRESPASSERS BEWARE.

For this is the site of a new kind of love affair,

Your words are tattooed on my skin in a language that few understand.

Your touch is remembered by the purple of these bruises,

And the fire in your eyes has long since been burned into my bones.

The scars you left are put to shame by the ones I leave myself,

Try harder next time.
