Winter had officially dawned on Boston. The first snow came smack dab in the middle of November, and Harry had insisted that we take advantage of it. He showed up at my apartment that morning, wearing the same coat that he had on when we first met. His brown hair peaked out from the edges of a black beanie. I stared at him for a second, checking the time on my clock and finding that it was far too early for his shenanigans. I pulled my blanket around my shoulders and leaned against the door jamb, waiting for him to speak.

"It's snowing!" He said excitedly. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Come over and get snowed in with Aubrey and I. I'll make you some breakfast and we'll go sledding and build a snowman and shit." Snow and I do not get along. Over the years, I'd learned after many falls resulting in broken bones and colds resulting from, well the cold, that it's safer for me to stay inside. I made my case to him but he shrugged. "That's a shame, Aubrey was really excited to hang out with you." I rubbed my eyes before giving in, always a sucker for a child's feelings.

"Give me a minute to get ready. If I get sick, you're ass is taking care of me."

"I wouldn't want it any other way." He said with a smirk as he followed me into my room.

After an hour or two outside, the three of us had completed a snowman family, complete with scarves and carrot nosed. They stood in front of the house, smiling at the street. Harry had started a snowball fight, convincing Aubrey to gang up on me. By the time they had finished their assault, my beanie and scarf were soaking wet. We were inside now. Harry had made coffee for us and hot coco for Aubrey who was happy to sit and drink it while watching her TV show with talking animals. I sat in an arm chair, a blanket pulled tight around me and one of Harry's sweatshirts replacing my shirt which had been soaked through, my hefty jacket doing little to help me.

Harry brought me my coffee, just the way I liked it. He gestured for me to stand up and took my seat, pulling me onto his lap. He leaned forward, kissing the tip of my nose which was a glowing red. I could feel a cold setting in already. His arm was wrapped around my torso, my head on his shoulder.

Within the next few minutes, it was snowing again. It was looking like we really would be snowed in for the time being. Aubrey had made the suggestion that we have a Disney-princess-movie-marathon. Harry set up Cinderella for her and refilled her coco.

Eventually, I ended up sitting on Harry's bed helping him fold laundry. And by "helping him fold laundry" I mean, "I folded his laundry". After watching him haphazardly trying to fold a shirt, I took over the job. He laid on the bed, letting me use his stomach as a flat surface to fold things on. I had finished folding relatively quickly and managed to find a place to put everything before I crawled onto Harry, my legs on either side of his torso. I laid my head on his chest, trying desperately to elevate my growing headache.

"Are you okay, baby?" I nodded, feeling a sneeze gathering in my nose. Harry said "bless you" a second before I sneezed. He wrapped his arms around my torso, pulling me closer. He pressed a hand to my forehead, and grimaced. "Why don't you get under the covers? I'm going to go check on Aubrey and bring you some soup and a blanket, okay?" I was about to argue when I realized I really didn't have the energy to, so I nodded. He kept an arm around me as he stood, carrying me with him before putting me back down, under the covers. He kissed my nose before walking into the living room.

I heard him changing disks in the player and turn on the stove, cracking a can of soup open, which made me chuckle. My mom would be horrified if someone made her soup from a can. A few seconds later, I heard the sound of little feet running on wood floor. Aubrey came in, a glass of water in one hand and a pair of little red pills.

"Daddy told me to bring you these because you don't feel good." She handed me the glass of water and the pills, which I gladly swallowed.

"Thanks, sweetie" she shrugged. A minute later, Harry came in, balancing a bowl of soup in one hand, popcorn in the other and a blanket under his arm. He handed me the soup carefully and handed the popcorn to Aubrey who had crawled onto the bed. He put a DVD into his TV and pressed a few buttons before joining us, putting his arm around my back.

"Couldn't have you missing all the fun." He leaned to kiss my forehead as I ate a spoonful of my soup. Aubrey was more than happy to munch on popcorn and listen to Ariel sing "Part of Your World" while singing along to some parts.

"I don't want to get you sick." I said scooting away from him as far as the bed would allow me to. He shook his head.

"I'm healthy as a horse. I'll be fine, come here." He pulled me closer than before and I complied, again, not having the strength to argue.

Aubrey's off key singing, should've made my head hurt more. And Harry's arm around me should've made me even sicker. But it didn't. I can't tell if it was the pills taking effect or if it was Harry and Aubrey's company, whatever it was, I was feeling better already.

Once I had finished with my bowl of soup, I set it on the nightstand. I leaned farther into Harry, my head resting on his chest, the smell of his minimal cologne and the steady pattern of his breathing put me to sleep in no time.

By the time I had woken up again, it was dark outside and Harry was flipping through channels on the TV. Aubrey had fallen asleep with her head on Harry's thigh. He smiled down at me.

"Go to sleep, baby." He whispered, his lips against my temple, I nodded, intertwining my legs with Harry's. This is what it's supposed to be, this is the family I want.
