The morning after elimination always hums differently — like the air itself knows the balance just shifted.
Fire's lost another player.
Water's loud again.
And Earth?
Earth's pretending to relax while calculating their next moves behind every smile.
Winning comes with pressure. And paranoia.
Especially when the person you threw in just crawled out of the fire looking untouchable.

"Jackson came back from elimination like he just invented confidence.
The problem is... it looks good on him."
The kitchen's already alive when I walk in.
Marcus and Cory are arguing about whether protein shakes count as breakfast.
Kam's perched on the counter, scrolling through her phone.
And Harper — quiet, analytical Harper from Team Air — is sitting nearby, watching the chaos ensue.
"Morning," I say.
Marcus waves his spoon. "Morning, Teach. Want some chalk-flavored disappointment?"
"Hard pass," I reply, opening the fridge. "Some of us enjoy food with taste."
Kam peeks up. "Please tell me that means what I think it means."
I grin. "It might."

"I swear, that girl's gonna win over the whole house just by cooking for us every day. Nobody's gonna see it coming when she starts running the game too."
Within twenty minutes, the kitchen smells like cinnamon, butter, and comfort.
Cory leans over the island. "You're spoiling us."
"Survival tactic," I say. "If you all eat my food, you're less likely to vote me in."
He laughs. "Smart. I respect that strategy."
I plate another pancake, sliding it toward Harper without thinking. She blinks.
"Thanks," she says softly.
"Anytime," I reply.
It's small — but it's something.

"I didn't expect her to notice me. People don't, usually. But she did. I think she just... sees people. It's disarming."
The breakfast crowd grows as word spreads.
Devin wanders in, stealing a pancake before sitting down.
"You realize you're creating a problem, right?" he says through a mouthful.
"Which is?"
He gestures with his fork. "Now we're gonna expect this every day."
"Guess you'll have to keep me around, then."
He chuckles. "Smart and manipulative. I like it."

"I joke, but I get it — food's her armor. You can tell she cooks for peace. The day she stops feeding us? That's the day to worry."
Later that day, Tori and Kailah are on the deck with Kam, laughing about something that definitely breaks at least three Challenge rules.
I sit nearby, half-listening, pretending to journal.
"Come on, Teach," Kailah says suddenly, catching my eye. "You can't just sit there being mysterious."
"I'm not mysterious."
"Exactly what a mysterious person would say," Tori adds, grinning.
Kam smirks. "They're trying to recruit you to the dark side. Careful."
"Define dark side," I say.
Kailah raises her drink. "Fun."
Tori laughs. "Bad decisions with good intentions."
"Sounds familiar," I say.
They cheer at that, and just like that, I'm part of the conversation — not the rookie, not the teacher. Just... me.
🎥 Confessional — Tori (Team Fire)
"She's funny in this quiet, sneaky way. You forget she's new. Feels like she's been here forever — like she's already part of the story."
By sunset, production sends in costumes for the night's party — "Elements Collide."
Everyone's half-dressed and half-tipsy before it even starts.
Zoe and Marcus are flirting near the bar.
Harper's cornered Devin for what looks like a philosophical debate about strategy.
Kam and Tori are dancing barefoot in the hallway.
And me? I'm in the kitchen again, helping Kailah slice fruit.
"You really like doing this, huh?" she says.
"Cooking?"
"Yeah. You light up when you do it. It's weirdly soothing to watch."
I smile. "Guess it's my happy place."
🎥 Confessional — Kailah (Team Fire)
"She's got that vibe — calm, but not fragile. Like if you mess with her, she won't scream. She'll just smile, and suddenly everything you own's on fire."
By the time the party peaks, the house is alive again — music, laughter, chaos.
I'm sitting near the pool with Kam, Marcus, and Cory when Jackson walks in.
Fresh haircut, black shirt, too confident.
Kam nudges me. "He's staring."
"I think that's just his default expression."
"Sure, Teach."
He catches my eye. Raises his drink slightly.
That look again — equal parts challenge and curiosity.
Cory whistles low. "You two need a ceasefire."
Marcus grins. "Or a room."
"Ha ha," I mutter.
🎥 Confessional — Marcus (Team Earth)
"Everyone sees it. The tension, the back-and-forth. It's like watching someone try not to touch a live wire while standing in a puddle."
The party thins out around 2 a.m.
I end up back in the kitchen, barefoot, cleaning up the chaos.
Jackson's there too, leaning against the counter, watching me like he's waiting for something.
"You always work overtime?" he asks.
"Someone has to clean up after your team."
He smirks. "You really can't help yourself, huh?"
"What?"
"Taking care of people."
I set the plate down, glancing at him over my shoulder. "I like leaving things better than I found them."
He smirks. "That include people?"
"Depends on the person."
He leans a little closer, eyes glinting. "And me?"
I meet his gaze. "Still deciding."
That earns a real laugh — warm, surprised.
He nods once. "Careful, Teach. Keep thinking about it too long, and you might start liking me."
I smile. "Unlikely."
He chuckles on his way out. "That's what they all say."

"I'm surrounded by people who could become friends. Family, even.
Kam, Marcus, Cory, Devin, Tori, Harper — all of them.
And then there's Jackson.
The one person I can't decide if I want to outplay... or understand."
