I hear something rustling in nearby trees and I quickly hide my bow behind my relieved of my actions as Fili came bounding out from behind the trees.
"Hey Kili" He called walking over to where I was standing "What's that?" He inquired looking behind me.
"What?" I questioned hoping he hadn't seen my bow
" That thing, behind your back" He responded
"Nothing" I said hurriedly eager to change the subject "So have your lessons with Thorin been?" I asked
"Good" He replied "How about archery?"
"What" I was bewildered, How did he know?
"Kili you need to hide your bow better I can see it from here" He replied as he plucked the bow from behind my back
"damn" I cursed under my breath "Please don't tell Thorin" I begged
"What" he said looking up abruptly "He already knows"
"What!"
"Just kidding" He said reassuringly, giving my bow back " I would never tell him, you're my brother"
"Thanks" I said relieved " I wonder what Thorin would say if he knew" I grinned
"Yes I wonder" Came a voice from behind me.
"Hi uncle Thorin" I mumbled my voice shaking
"Want to tell me something?" He asked
"How long have you been here?" I replied
"About when you said don't tell Thorin" He said angrily. Fili started to back away "Fili stay" Thorin demanded.
"Thorin, you don't get it" I tried to explain, it was no use he wouldn't listen
"Kili, come with me, Fili practice" He ordered
Fili nodded but then dropped down making sure he was out of site. We walked in silence.
"Why did you keep a secret from me Kili?" I lowered my head and mumbled
"I don't know"
"I know there is a secret deep down, Kili you have nothing to hide" I looked around the room mumbled growing in confidence. I just wanted to find something, something I was good at something that you could be proud of. I knew you wouldn't approve of the elvish weapon at first but I thought maybe, just maybe you would be proud. You are always talking about Fili and how well he can fight and you are always taking him with you on adventures. I guess I was just trying to prove to you that I can do it too.
Fili's mouth hung open I never know he felt that way.
"You may leave" Thorin voice rung out clear in the silence. Then suddenly Fili fell over and landed on his face.
"ow" he muttered. Thorin sighed.
"You were listening, weren't you?" accused Thorin.
" Um, maybe" Fili replied sheepishly.
"We will talk later Kili" Thorin said as I walked towards Fili and pulled him up
"so I guess you heard all of that" I said to Fili
"Yeah" He responded "Why didn't you tell me you felt like that?
"I don't know sometimes the reason you keep secrets is because it's too hard to explain" Fili placed his hand on my shoulder.
"I know how you feel but always remember I will always be there for you, through the good and the bad, because I am your brother.
