Chapter 4

The door was flung wide open and a wave of darkness gushed in, dominating the rom. Luke’s pupil dilated and his vision suddenly focused in on the source of the darkness. He grinned, baring his fangs as he did so and switched on a light bulb near it. The light flickered for a moment, but remained strong once Luke started to pour his energy into the bulb.

Andrea swarmed in under the cover of the wave of darkness and spread it out among the room as she tried to locate her next victim. Sweeping her eyes across the room, she espied a stunningly good looking boy, who could not be more than a year older than her. He had a messy mop of blonde hair which emphasised his electric blue eyes and made them seem to pop out. To top it all off, he had a rather muscular body and a perfect build. Seeming to notice her line of vision, the boy turned his head and grinned at her. His prominent cheekbones could be seen evidently and his dimples were increasingly obvious the more you looked at it. His eyes were weird, though – the iris seemed to have been fractured, causing him to look rather unique, which Andrea guessed she liked, in a way. But then her mouth dropped open. Well, at least it would have dropped if she actually had one in her Shadow Form. He. Had. Fangs. Just like her. Holy crap! Andrea thought. Just at that moment, the boy’s grin widened further, if that was even humanly possible. A light flickered on near her, almost burning her. She narrowed her eyes at the boy…

Take THAT. Andrea gritted her teeth and thought as she smothered the lamp with darkness. However, the light remained strong and did not flicker out of existence. If anything, it only became stronger. Andrea scowled at the boy’s handsome face furiously before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. In the entire three years she had known about her power, she had NEVER been bested, and he was not about to break the record. Concentrating on the lamp, Andrea slowed down time as she turned herself into a madeium between the Shadow Reality and the Humane Reality, channelling her chi towards the lamp.

Luke’s eyes widened fractionally when the lamp shattered and disintegrated. Andrea snapped her eyes open. Black, bottomless pools, they sucked in all darkness and seemed to render you devoid of hope. Footsteps were heard in the corridor. With one last glance at Luke, Andrea slipped into the shadows and out of sight. If Andrea had left, Luke guessed it was time too.

However, the door burst open just as Luke prepared to leave. With a stun gun aimed at him, the leader threatened, “Hands up, you filthy creature!” Luke raised them up slowly and the guns in the men’s hands rose as well. Before they could react, 3 were dragged into the shadows, 5 of them were possessed and of the remaining 12, 6 were knocked out by falling lamps and the rest were hit by floating guns. Luke grinned at the attractive Necromancer and commented casually, “We make a good pair, don’t we? Come on, a feast is in order!” With that, Luke ripped out a throat and proceeded to devour a corpse. Meanwhile, Andrea looked at him disdainfully. “All food must be devoured with grace.” She explained, before dismissing 4 of the possessed to go fetch some chairs and a table. “Meanwhile,” Andrea continued with a wicked smile, “I shall go and quench my thirst with this fine young buck.” She whisked the last of the possessed into a nearby bathroom and soon grunts and moans were heard from inside. Luke suddenly felt an uncontrollable desire to go in, rip out that mans throat and take his place in whatever he was doing with Andrea. When Luke thought of it again, he felt blood rushing to his cheeks and was glad that Andrea could neither read minds nor see his face.
