Chapter 14

Aphmau's POV

Within ten minutes, we have a whole search party assembled. We split off into four directions, going on every possible direction, hoping to run into my ghost son.

Me, Garroth, Cadenza, and Kiki went into the forest towards Tsumetai Kokoro Lake, South.

Donna, Logan, Dante, and Brendan went East

Laurance, Molly, Emma, and Dale took the boat North, towards Bright Port.

And Brian, Emmalyn, Nicole, and Kawaii~Chan went West. Zoey stayed behind to take care of Levin, Kyle, and Alexis, while we were gone.

He couldn't have gone far, he disappeared only last night. And he was ready to pass out all week, due to his lack of sleep. He must be somewhere around here. We have a four-way communication pendant. Rather than the blue one Garroth gave me a while back, when I was investigating Pikoro village, these pendants were red, and they went four ways. We gave one to myself, Dante, Laurance, and Brian, so we could communicate with each other if one of us happened to find Malachi. We even named the groups.

Our group was Team Kokoro, because, well, Tsumetai Kokoro Lake. Dante's group was Team Kūki, Laurance's group was Team Kaiyō, and Brian's group was Team Kasai.

After we had been searching for almost all day, with nothing, not even from the other groups, we decided to set up camp.

We got up bright and early the next day, and began our search once more. We found nothing all day, except for a message from Kaiyō that they had notified Bright Port of the problem and they would tell us if they saw him.

We were about to stop for lunch when I noticed something. Someone watching us from the top of a tree.

Zane.

"HEY!" I yelled, causing everyone to look at at me. Zane turned and ran, and I started chasing him, "Hey! Get back here!"

I ran for a bit, but I quickly lost sight of Zane. I slowed to a stop, and turned around to catch up with my group.
Garroth had chased after me, and had now caught up, and was panting heavily.
"What...was..that?" He asked as he tried to catch his breath.
"I saw Zane. He was stalking us again."
"He better...leave...us alone."
"He's gone now, but he'll be back, I'm sure. Now, let's get back to finding Malachi.
"Yes!"

Malachi's POV

I know that I shouldn't be out here right now, but I really didn't want to disappoint Mom. I've been out here for a day and a half, and I am already exhausted. Well, I was exhausted before to, but my energy in running away kept me awake. Now I really want to lay down and sleep. I don't know what direction I've gone in, but I have been flying, or floating if you will, which is faster than running. I have gone pretty far. I crossed into a clearing, where it looks like rocks have choked out the trees. I am beginning to feel dizzy. It's just a side affect from exhaustion, but I still don't like it. I started to slowly feel myself passing out. I know Mom would have sent out a search party for me and I don't want them to find me. I know I'm not getting away from fainting, but I need to go somewhere more secluded, where they won't find me. Up ahead, I see a cave. That would be the perfect spot for me to hide. I...just...need...to...make...it...there.....
Then everything went black.

Brian's POV

We ran forwards. We heard faint, child's moan. Hoping that it was Malachi, we came into a dense group of trees. Ahead we saw the child. Is wasn't Malachi. It was a girl, around Malachi's age. She was laying up against a tree, and her eyes were closed. She had cuts and bruises all over her body, and she had tears running down her face. She looked like she had hit her head. She was almost deathly pale and thin, she looked like she had been out here for months.
Instantly, Nicole walked towards her and pulled out her first aid kit. After cleaning the wounds, and putting bandages on them, the girl opened her eyes and gasped. She tried to scream, but Nicole quickly put her hand over the child's mouth. They seemed to share a special connection. I wonder why?

Nicole's POV

I don't know how, but I feel like I'm connected with this girl. Some say that there is a special bond, that happens at first sight, that creates a beautiful relationship, before you even speak. They call it being star bonded. Is that's what's happening? I don't know.
"What's your name?" I ask.
"S-Summer..."
"I'm Nicole. What are you doing out here?"
"I-I don't know. I was out here for some reason, and then someone attacked me, and I lost my memory. I can't remember anything about the old me. That's why I named myself Summer." She began to cry, "I don't have a home!"
"Shh, calm down. You can come with us."
"R-Really? You mean it?" She began to smile, but weakly. I think she has been here for a while.
The four of us nodded, and Summer tried to stand up. Almost immediately she fell down, so I picked her up, and she smiled, stronger this time.
"Where are we going?" She questioned.
"Well, we are trying to find a little boy, who ran away from home, and then we are heading back to the Village of Phoenix Drop." Emmalyn answered for me.
"What does this boy look like? I saw a boy going the other way, when I passed a village over there." She said pointing East. My heart skipped a beat. If she had seen Malachi, then we could tell Dante, and the others, that he went East.
"Well, he's a ghost. That's the first thing you notice."
"THAT'S HIM! I SAW HIM RUN THAT WAY A FEW NIGHTS AGO!" She yelled. Well, loudly spoke. She didn't have the energy to yell.

We stopped and gave her a pork chop that we had brought, as well as an apple, and some water. Almost immediately she looked better.
While she was eating, Brian pulled out the red communication pendant and began to write a message to Kokoro, Kūki, and Kaiyō.

A/N-- Heyy! If you can't tell, I like to use Japanese words as names for things. Translations here:

Tsumetai Kokoro = Cold Heart
Kokoro = Heart
Kūki                          = Air or 'Will to eat'. In this case I am using it as air.
Kaiyō                        = Ocean
Kasai                        = Fire
