I walk downstairs where I put my boots on and then walk outside. I run into green grass behind my house and lay down as the grass covers me up. I smile as I feel the grass run threw my hair. I close my eyes letting the sun shine down on to my face. I sit there thinking about mother and father. Thinking about the dream and if I should follow what mother told me to do. I hear a leaf crunch and sit up. I see Colt walking towards me.
"Almost got you." He says with a smile.
"COLT!" I yell running over to him and wrapping my arms around him. I feel him place his hand on my back and I smile.
"Wow. Some ones happy to see me."He says with a smile.
"I just missed you. You're my best friend." I say pulling away from him.
"I got you something." He says with a funny grin on his face.
"If you pull out another dead mouse, I might just beat you." I say looking up at him as he shuffles threw his bag. I close my eyes.
"Ok.... Open them!" He says holding a black box on one knee. My eyes widen and I am speechless.
"Oh Anabella. I fell in love with you when I first saw you running in this green grass. You were perfect with your hair waving in the wind. From then on, I knew you were the one for me." He says opening the box.
"Oh, will you accept my promise ring?" He says as he falls in the grass laughing. Stress leaps of my shoulders as I give him a dirty look.
"YOU SCARED ME TO DEATH COLT!" I say as I calm down. I join him in the grass laughing as I look up to the sky. He sits up as he pulls me up with him.
"Anabella, do you promise that whatever happens in this dumb crazy world, that we will always come back to each other and lay here, together every night of our life's and never ever let someone come in the way of our friendship?" He says as his real smile creeps out of his mouth. I think about leaving to the other side to find my mother and not being here with Colt. Colt is my only real friend, and I could imagine life without him. Me leaving, could ruin everything we ever had together. We could fall apart. I realize it has been a while for my answer.
"I promise." I say smiling as he slips the ring on to my finger. I smile and fall into his strong tight arms.
"Thank you." I whisper closing my eyes.
"Only a girl like you deserves the best." He says hanging on to me. I smile and hug him tighter. His brown short hair rubs my head. I pull away and look into his blue eyes.
"Don't over think this." I say placing my lips on his. His eyes widen but then slowly close and take it all in. My lips slowly shift to the perfect position. We stay there for a while as I take it all in. I pull away as my face feels warm.
" A friendship kiss." He says smiling.
"A friendship kiss." I say smiling back. I let my head fall onto the soft soil as we talk till the sun sets and the moon rises.
"See you tomorrow night!" He says his eyes sparkling under the stars. My heart crushes into a million pieces.
"Yea.... Tomorrow night." I say smiling holding back the tears. I walk back home thinking about tonight. I open the door to my house where I can guess my brother up reading in his room and father snoozing. I walk up stairs and plop on my bed. Tonight's the night I leave my family here and become the girl I have always wanted to be. The girl who is fearless, brave , and adventures. The girl who is remembered by all. The first girl to cross the wall. But should I?
