Warning for attempted Suicide

-----

Staring down at the choppy, cold water below them, holding onto the cold metal pole, and leaning back against the railing. Most would say they were on the wrong side, but honestly they felt this was their only option, their life had amounted to nothing, a dead-end job that barely covered the rent, a relationship they wondered if Eldrick would even care, their siblings sure the hell wouldn't.

Their gaze moved from the water below them, to the left jacket pocket, where their phone had just buzzed, right, they had forgotten it was even there. Moving a hand carefully, they stuck their hand into their pocket, grabbing the phone and looking at the notification, realizing it was only a game. Growling a little, they nearly chucked their phone into the water, what had they expected? Some miracle words of help? Like hell.

Though they decided to do something instead, tapping a random contact, and putting the phone to their ear, listening to the dull ringing they were so used to reaching their ears, if no one picked up, it was over. If someone did, maybe, they'd consider actually living. The ringing continued before there was a pause, and then a very tired sounding, "Hallo?" it was a voice they knew entirely too well. The voice of the only person who didn't fear them, the voice of someone they knew would try to save them, why'd it have to be Eldrick's number. "...Uh? Hello? Danva?" the voice sounded concerned, so concerned.

"Eldrick...hey," they didn't know what else to say, its not like they could say, 'oh hey I'm standing on the edge of a bridge would you care if I jumped?' he couldn't say that at all, it would just cloud the answer. Then again, how could they go about it?
"Danva..." Eldrick paused, he could hear water, wind, it was too close to the phone, too close it worried him so much, Danva hadn't come home like he usually did. They hadn't come home even after four hours, and now it was around midnight and Eldrick was worried sick, and all he could hear in the background was water, and wind, "Danva where are you?"

The worry in Eldrick's voice sickened them, how could he be so worried? How could he even care?! It wasn't like he truly loved them anyway! They nearly dropped the phone, nearly, letting out a small hiss, "Standing on a bridge," was their only answer, that's the only answer Eldrick needed.

"Danva please don't," he knew by the tone of Danva's voice, he knew by the sounds of cars going by that it must seem like no one cares, and in a big city why should they? But why should that matter? Eldrick cared, he cared more then what should be considered healthy, "I'm coming to get you, don't hang up, please just don't hang up," his voice pleading, almost begging.

Danva contemplated just doing the exact opposite, they almost hit the end call button, but something in them didn't and sure enough, throughout the entire car ride, Eldrick talked, and talked and told him of all the reasons he loved them, of all the ways he cared, Danva didn't know how to handle it, how to process it, they thought no one cared, when really they hadn't noticed.

There was a screech from behind him, as a car pulled to the side, one he recognized immediately, they didn't move, just watched carefully as he watched Eldrick unbuckle his seat belt quickly and get out of the car, running towards them, out of breath, a worried look on his face, his phone still in his hand, it was quickly dropped, he didn't seem to care if it broke against the pavement or not.

Eldrick reached over, holding out his hand for Danva to grab, "Please come home with me," were his only words, with all the words he had said on the way, with all the things he had said, the only thing it seemed Danva needed to hear was those.

They swallowed and took the hand, allowing themselves to be pulled back onto the sidewalk, and pulled into a tight hug, allowed Eldrick to just hug them tightly, muttering 'I'm sorry's and 'I should have be there more often,'s. Danva felt like they couldn't breath, tears coming to their eyes, they said nothing, just reluctantly wrapping their arms around Eldrick, it was so strange to them, but it felt so right at this moment.

Danva wouldn't admit it, but they were so scared, so scared no one would pick up, and that everything they had thought was true. It was evident it wasn't now, they realized that, it just took them a while.
