2 more months passed of the same bullying and name calling. Camila had had enough. She got home from school one Friday and packed her bags. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew she had to get away and as far away as possible.
Her mother was dozing on and off in front of the TV with an empty bottle in her hand. Typical. Camila didn't bother to say goodbye to her or tell her where she was going. She just left.
She walked to the nearest bus stop and caught the next bus to update New York. Once she was seated on the bus she looked out the window and looked at the world flashing past her and it reminded her of how she did the same those two months ago. Camila didn't have much money but it was enough to scrape by with for the first few months. She took out her iPod and placed the earbuds in her ears, drowning out the rest of the world.
After many long hours, the bus had finally reached upstate New York. She thanked the driver and hopped off the bus. She took in her surroundings for a few minutes before realising it was already 10:30 at night and she needed a place to stay. She looked around at all of the apartments and hotels and decided to check out one called La Grande Pomme, which she assumed meant something in French.
(It means, the big apple.)
She walked over to the front desk. "Hello. I was wondering if you had a room I could stay in for a week or so?" Camila politely asked.
"Ah, you are very lucky. You got the last room. 3rd floor, room 117," the receptionist replied with a sweet French accent.
"How much will that be?" Asked Camila
"$4500," the woman answered.
Oh dear, thought Camila. She could afford it but she would also have to starve to death if she stayed in a room that expensive. Money was tight and she realised she needed to choose affordability over luxury.
"You know, on second thought, I might have to pass that offer. This place is lovely but I have a tight budget. Thank you for your time miss," Camila nodded her head and went back out the door.
After a good 20 minute walk, Camila found an apartment simply called Upstate Apartments. It looked a little shabby, however the rooms were only $200 per night which was much more affordable for Camila.
She got a key to her room which was the 2nd floor from the top and took a look at her home for the next week. It was pretty small but it had everything she needed and also had a nice view. She felt her stomach grumble and remembered she hadn't eaten anything yet and although it was almost one o'clock in the morning, she needed to eat.
She went to the nearest McDonalds and ate some fries before calling it a night.
She returned to the apartment and went up to her floor in the elevator. When she reached the floor she saw a girl about her age dressed in all black hurriedly walking towards her. She unintentionally bumped into Camila causing her bag to fall.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," the girl said, bending down to help Camila with her bag. She looked at Camila for a brief second and Camila noticed that her eyes were the color of a glistening turquoise sea.
"I'm Camila," introduced Camila.
"Lauren," the mysterious girl replied.Authors note: sorry this chapter is a little short but I finally update for the first time in ages. Let me know what you think and if you like my story. Thanks bye xxx
