The music was pounding loudly through my ears as I drank my nth cup of beer. I wasn't even the person to enjoy beer, but still wanted to feel the nice buzz you got from alcohol. The hard log, I was sitting on, was slowly making my butt numb.

It was the first offcial school break as a senior and a bunch of guys on the basketball team had decided to throw a lake house party as a celebration to that.

I came down here with my best friend and she was currently nowhere to be seen. Out of boredom, I was balancing the red cup filled with beer on my knees as my eyes gazed over the big bonfire in front of me. As far as I was aware of, I was the only one sitting around the bonfire expect for an obnoxious couple across me, making out violently. They were one step from dry humping each other. I scowled at them, continuing to drink my beverage.

I was on borderline of looking like a loner, sitting alone by the bonfire while everyone around me had someone. My best friend, Ada, said she was going to get a refill half an hour ago and I still hadn't seen or heard from her. Normally, I would be searching every inch of the party looking for my blonde best friend, but the thought of cramming my way through drunk sweaty teenagers wasn't appealing to me at all.

It wasn't till I felt the urge to pee, I decided to look for the bathroom as well as my best friend. I repeated excuse me multiple times to get to bathroom upstairs. My body stopped when I heard a familiar laugh coming from the TV room a few feet away, it was Ada. I went in the opposite direction and headed to the TV room and I was right. Ada was sitting there with a bunch of people I recognized from my class, not necessarily people I would classify as friends.

The first one to notice me standing by the door was a guy with a navy blue snapback resting on his head, I saw hair pieces of curls peaking underneath the snapback. His deep green eyes scanned me from head to toe, making me ever so slightly uncomfortable before he flashed me a half smile. It didn't take long before the rest of the group noticed my presence in the room.

"Natalie!" My best friend Ada cheered and signalized for me to sit down next to her. From her unusual behavior and strong alcohol smell I assumed she was more than tipsy.

"Where were you?" I asked her casually and sat down, joining the group.

"Here, silly girl," she giggled. She flicked her half blonde, half silver hair off her shoulder and puckered her red lips. Ada was the kind of girl who liked to experiment with her hair color. This year she decided to do her hair silver for senior year. It was actually really nice, I was just surprised that her hair hasn't fallen off yet due to all the coloring.

My eyes looked over at the people in the room. I recognized the curly haired boy with the navy snapback, his name was Harry, he was the captain of the basketball team and we had French together. Next to Harry and Ada was a blonde guy named Niall. If I was right, he was the owner of the lake house and we had Economy together. Niall was known as the rich boy hence why the party was thrown at one of his many lake houses. On Harry's side was Maya. She was the kind the kind of girl that people would classify as the popular girl since she was the head cheerleader, but the name didn't do justice for her. I feel like when people call someone the "popular girl", they would automatically assume she was mean, dumb, bitchy person and that wasn't the case for Maya. She was the complete opposite and I envied her for that. The way her long brown shined and how her beautiful smile lit up the whole room. She was in my AP Math and Biology class and was one of the nicest people I knew. God, I was so jealous of her.

"This lake house is so boring," the blonde guy Niall whined into his beer cup. "Let's go to the haunted asylum up in the woods!"

The people in the room including me frowned their nose. "Really? That's like two hours away from here and you're too drunk to drive anyway," this time Harry spoke up.
