About two miles from where she left Dante; Kale realized why the voice she remembered was so familiar. That voice was one she knew very well. That voice had always been there for Kale and helped her off her feet. The brunt of that realization hit her with an unparalleled force she thought impossible. Jasmine; her sister; America’s Angel; her hero; a fearless fighter taught and trained by the best of the best; a charming young woman with looks that could kill; but overall ,the one thing Kale wish she was above all others,  faithful and loyal to any person she met and trusted. She had heard that voice, the voice she had  longed to be heard again called to her.

Kale looked down at her hands that had hit the ground around the same time her brain was hit by the recognition of Jasmine. Kale’s fingernails dug into the concrete of the sidewalk; it quickly becoming wet by the ever falling snowflakes that twirled around in the stormy wind.  She wondered why it took so long for it to click, and then she realized, she hadn’t seen or heard Jasmine in over a year. She had forgotten her own sister’s voice. Kale couldn’t help it; a hot sea water worthy tear slid down her high cheekbones and fell onto the ground.

She remembered all the good times her and Jasmine had when they were younger; younger because when Jasmine was picked to succeed after their mother as the president (because Jasper had turned the offer down saying “I’m not exactly leadership material.” Everyone had agreed and Jasmine was next). She had accepted and she was put into basic training at the early age of thirteen even after taking Martial Arts classes with Daniel Lewis, Jasmine’s fiancé,  before she was kidnapped, and had even trained with her instructor Colin Adams a Marin Corps Major. Her and Kale would often play sniper with Jasper and Daniel, many times beating them, and go sailing in the bay that they had all grown up around along with another one of Jasmine’s friends, Tori Wood.

Tori Wood was a very tall girl with platinum blonde hair that shown in the sun white and eyes of a soft teal blue that you knew held such animosity toward other people you really didn’t want to talk to her, but that was before you got to know her. Her mother was one their parents friends, another drill team member, Gina Wood. That was also another reason Tori was named her name, both Gina and her husband (Victoria’s cousin Austin) decided to name their daughter after her. Tori was a sarcastic genius, who everyone knew was Jasper’s match, and placed in many academic competitions alongside him.

They would all play and talk and learn. These were the times when Kale starting noticing changes happening to all of them, around the time they started their last years in the military school they all went to. Tori and Jasper would flirt by hitting or getting into arguments on science and math, and Daniel would look at Jasmine as if she was his missing link in life and Jasmine to him as well.

Daniel Adam Lewis was a sweet boy with dark blonde hair and sapphire eyes. He reached to just about 6’3” and was very lean but was filled completely out with muscles. His father Daniel Lewis was yet another friend of their parents being an old drill team member and he was also the Secretary of the Navy. He used to be a pilot in the Navy and looked after Kale’s mother as if she was a little sister, seeing as how she was the one taking care of all the pilots with her doctor skills.

It came to a time when  a nine year old Kale really didn’t want to hang out with them anymore because it would soon become awkward, seeing as how she didn’t have a significant other. She would often times go out on her own and just play by herself at the park or go to the library to escape her world. That was where she first met Dante. The same day, her father came to pick her up, as it was past her curfew, and met Dante. The look in her father’s eyes was one not only of betrayal and hurt form the past but of danger. Kale’s father proceeded to tell Dante to stay away from her and never speak to her again. Kale cried that night. Then, she became mad. Kale always being the good obedient child broke her first rule.

She saw Dante again the next day and they again played and talked and played and talked. They talked and talked and sometimes it wasn’t even important, it was just the kind of talk where you do it just to speak, and they laughed. Both being very pre-maturely smart and both very athletic were on equal terms on all games and topics.

Now Kale looked back on those times, as she sat in the freezing snow that had built up to over a foot, while she looked back on her memories. She then realized why she was walking out here in the first place and jumped up and ran to her next destination. Jillian was going to kill her. Jillian was Tori’s younger sister and the youngest child of Gina and Austin, and two years younger than Kale. They had really never clicked with Kale being athletic and Jill being a computer hacker, that is until after the kidnapping.

They became fast friends and stayed like that since, they didn’t why and they don’t try to find out either. All they know is that the other has her back and right now Kale’s back was going to be bruised if she didn’t get to her five mile away destination in five minutes. Kale smiled and said quite sarcastically, “Totally Doable!” and took off leaving snowflakes dancing in the air behind her.

*** Author's Note- Hey everyone, sorry I forgot to put a new chapter up last night but I tried to get it done earlier today. The song I have picked for this chapter is "Thanks for the Memories" by Fall Out Boy in response to the scene about Dante and Kale for obvious reasons. So with that being said, have a great day and goodbye!
