The sea was calm that morning. A soft orange light spilled across the horizon, reflecting on the glass windows of their St. Trapez home. Wang was the first to wake, watching Zhan breathe beside him. Peace, at last, had settled between them.
Down the hall, laughter echoed — Yara's bright voice as she played in the garden Wang had planted weeks ago. The house felt alive, warm, and free, no longer a hiding place or a battleground.
Zhan stirred, brushing a hand against Wang's chest. "You're staring again," he murmured, still half asleep.
"Can't help it," Wang replied. "You still don't look real sometimes."
"I'm real," Zhan whispered. "And we're okay."
The scars of the past remained, but the sunlit present — laughter, love, and family — was all that mattered. By noon, Yara ran in with a shell she had found on the beach. "Dad! Papa! Look! It's a heart!"
Wang lifted her into his arms. "A heart for a new beginning," he said, smiling.
And indeed it was a new beginning — not just for them, but for everyone they cared about. Later that afternoon, Ezra and Dre stood before a small gathering of family and friends, exchanging vows on the very same beach where Wang and Zhan had finally found peace.
"I promise," Ezra said, holding Dre's hands, "to always fight for you, love you, and keep you safe."
Dre laughed through tears, voice soft but unwavering. "And I promise to never let you fight alone, to love you fiercely, and to always be by your side."
The sun dipped low as they kissed, waves lapping at their feet. Wang and Zhan watched, hands intertwined, hearts full. The past — the betrayal, the fear, the chaos — seemed like a distant storm, replaced by this calm, unshakable happiness.
For the first time, all four of them — Wang, Zhan, Ezra, and Dre — could breathe, laugh, and plan for a future that belonged entirely to them.
And as the sun set over the horizon, Zhan whispered to Wang, "We made it."
Wang kissed his temple and smiled. "We did. And now everyone gets their happily ever after."
And as the waves whispered their endless song, four hearts beat in unison — scarred, fearless, and finally free.
