"Come on Sophie, I'll race you to that rock!" Happily yelled Jack. He grabbed his daughter's hand and trotted next to her, midway in the run he moved his grasp to her hips and swooped her into the air prancing around in joy. They danced and twirled as her heart warming giggles travel throughout the air. He landed her on the rock, "oh no you beat me!" He smiled as Sophie giggled in satisfaction. Seconds after her attention turned elsewhere, Jack met her gaze. In the distance little eggs were trotting around bumping into each other. Acknowledging her vast curiosity he let her off the rock to join the clumsy shapes.
Astrid strolled along observing the breath taking scenery.
She noticed her little angle and sat down next to her. She pulled Sophie into a cradle and tickled her from head to toe. She left a kiss on her forehead and released her. Astrid stood up and brushed off her clothes. When she looked back up Jack had already swooped down off the boulder. He took a step forward. As their eyes met he noticed the wonder and amaze embedded in her eyes. He smirked and pulled her into an embrace. Astrid laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck. Jack moved his arms down to her waist, leaned forward, and their lips met for a moment.
They stood there with their foreheads against one another slowly rocking back and forth.
Astrid moved to his side and rested her head upon Jack's shoulder.
"It's beautiful, when did you find about this place?" Asked Astrid.
"Well Bunny showed me, I waited until we had a child to show this to you, it just made matters more magical" replied Jack.
After a few minutes of studying Sophie's raw ambition and curiosity Stormfly emerged from the forest. Astrid let go of Jack and ran up to her and greeted her with a hug and a little scratch. Astrid walked Stormfly back next to Jack and let her off to join Sophie. Jack flew back atop the boulder leaving his wife below. He had offered assistance but Astrid denied showing that she was still herself from her teen years. When she reached the top he had the picnic basket and blanket all set up.
Astrid swore she just had the basket in her hands, "that little thief" she thought.
"Haha, very funny Jack, you're just taking stuff right out from under my nose. Is that what the whole embrace was for?" Jokingly asked Astrid.
"Maybe." Winked Jack.
Astrid smirked back then swung a punch at his shoulder as another one of her I love you's.
He leaned in for a kiss. He took a cookie and scooted closer to her. He placed an arm around her shoulders pulling her in closer. Astrid accepted his move and rested her head on his shoulder.
"That hurt." Said Jack .
"Good." smiled Astrid.
"Can I get a kiss for my boo boo?" Jokingly asked Jack.
Astrid lifted her head and found a pouting Jack in front of her.
"Haha you baby" mocked Astrid.
She planted a light kiss on his cheek and placed her head on his shoulders admiring everything around them. Jack happily watched his daughter and Stormfly play, Stormfly was very gentle with her interactions towards Sophie.
Jack too took every moment in like a deep breath, hoping for this perfect moment to stay perfect forever.
But time can never stand still, in Jack's mind darkness clouded his thoughts. He tried to shake it off but this time, the sun just couldn't shine.
