Chapter one

I just arrived home to find as usual my mom isn’t home. A single mother, my mom tried her best for her family.  She was a nurse for a local clinic; the job didn’t pay much, but it put food on the table.

Sophie my 13 year old sister was in front of the TV. After having a brief conversation with her, I walk to my room and blast on the radio. After I take off my stupid school uniform, I sat on my bed and got out my homework. As I go to get my math book I gaze outside the window to see my neighbor Erick was just getting home with a group of friends.

Erick was the neighborhood bad boy… tall, built, long black hair. Erick had a reputation for being an amazing lover. He liked to play girls, but lately he’s been with this one girl Emily. They were both popular and an “it” couple. All the guys at Eastern wanted to bang Emily and all of the girls including myself wanted a piece of Erick. I day dream of how passionate Erick must be when my thought is cut short by my sister.

“Put on some clothes fat lard.”

“Shut the fuck up Sophie”

“Close the blinds you really want Erick to see your rolls?”

“Get out of my room idiot.” I yelled at Sophie to leave my room.

“I’m playing with you calm down. Gosh someone is sensitive.”

“Just get out” I said pushing her out of my room and locking the door. I stood in front of the mirror looking at my body. I wasn’t obese, but I certainly wasn’t any guy’s first choice. I was 5’2 with semi long brown hair. I had a chest and a bubble butt, but also I had a tummy.

I never really had an official boyfriend, just a few guys… just one guy that I did a few things with last summer at my grandma’s house in New México. We had met at a local park and got to know each other and by the end of the summer we were a fling. I didn’t get past third base with him because he was older and didn’t want to get in trouble so… yeah I still have my “V” card.

After I try to convince myself that I’m pretty and I shouldn’t care what people say. I climb in bed and take my usual afternoon nap.

Hours later…

“Danalee”

“Coming mom” I said getting up and walking towards the kitchen.

“Hi Danalee how was your day.” My mom said serving us dinner.

“Ok I guess, mom serve me more I’m hungry.”

“I don’t think you need it Dana.”

“So I’m supposed to starve?”

“No you have to eat by portions sweetie”

“Whatever.”

“It’s for your own good.”

“Everything is for my own damn good.”

“Please Dana I don’t want to argue. When you’re done can you take out the garbage?”

“Well I’m not sure; I may not fit through the door.”

“Squeeze you’ll fit hopefully” Sophie said.

“Sophie don’t start with me.”

“That’s enough both of you.” Mom yelled at both of us.

“After you’re done take out the garbage Danalee ok.”

“Okay.”

“Sophie you wash the dishes.”

“Why do I get the hard work and the fat cow—“

“Sophie I said stop if not you’re grounded.”

“Ok whatever.” Sophie said with an attitude.

As I drag the garbage out side and into the can. I see Erick getting out of the car followed by his girlfriend Emily. I overhear them talking about Noah and something his dad did. Noah was Erick’s best friend which happened to be in one of my classes. Noah was just as sexy as Erick. He had blonde/brown hair up to his neck; Noah had eyes to kill for they were hazel and deep.

Since I didn’t hear anything that may interest me I go back inside to take a shower.

I went to the bathroom and stripped of my clothes. I stared at myself for a while hoping I would open my eyes and be thin. Sadly reality kicks in and the water is steaming. When I finish my shower I blow dry my hair and walk to my room. I turn on my desk top and search the web. After what seems to be hours I turn off the light and go to bed.
