Road trip, road trip, now what do I bring for a road trip?
Screw it, I thought to myself, before I started tossing an assortment of random rubbish I could find around my room. Sure, I'd probably need deodorant, plenty of clean underwear. Totally, I know many boys say the re-wear their underwear, but that was totally not me.
Though Rocky, I'm not so sure.
Joking.
Or am I?
Thinking about it gave me the creeps, so I stopped. I threw in several sweaters and shirts just in case. Great, I think I was all packed.
I spent the night tossing and turning in bed. What would the road trip be like? If it were just Rydel and I, what would happen? Would it be as cool as people seem to make it out to be? Who'd we see a unicorn in a random forest while we chase down a rainbow? Will we see magical leprechaun instead?
Okay, most of my ideas seemed far-fetched, but I actually did spend a long time wondering what would happen if we did come face-to-face with a unicorn. Rydel loves those, she'd probably want to take it home. Maybe it'd even be accompanied by Luna Lovegood, who'd fight Rydel for the unicorn.
Rydel would probably win by talking Luna to submission, and then she would probably ride the unicorn home, leaving me to drive back the boring way, and I'd let her, because I'd never know if unicorns are hostile creatures.
I am so not a wuss.
I don't know how I eventually fell asleep, but I managed to do so, only to be woken up again what felt like minutes after closing my eyes.
"Ratliff," someone said in my ear.
"Five more minutes, mum," I mumbled.
I heard some childish giggles. Wait, something didn't seem right. My eyes flew open. You've got to be kidding me.
All five of the Lynch kids were in my room, and more importantly, on my bed. Rocky was even under the sheets with me, while Rydel was sat atop me, next to Ross, while Ryland and Riker were by my face. I let out a small - and very manly I'll have you know - scream.
All five of them broke out in giggles. Bloody siblings.
"Are ye ready kids?" Riker asked.
"AYE AYE CAPTAIN!" The other four replied.
I groaned. "You're all coming with me?"
It was probably for the best, but I was really looking forward to spending more time - alone - with Rydel. Not that I'd liked her or anything - I mean come on I just got out of a relationship - but she's so, I don't know, different I suppose, from the other girls I know.
Like, almost everyone would swoon whenever I flirt with them, but Rydel just flirts back.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, I was just hoping maybe I'd find out more personal things about her on this trip. Like, get to know her better kind of thing.
"Get up, Ratliff. Get up, Ratliff. Get up, Ratliff." Rydel said as she shook me.
What was wrong with these Lynch kids? "Go away, I'll be ready in five minutes!" I groaned.
"No, baby, you'll get ready now," Rocky said, placing his cold arms around me.
I let out another man scream, making the five of them all burst out laughing.
"That was the funniest thing I've ever heard," Ryland admitted.
"Get out!!" I commanded, wanting to change.
I counted as all four of them walked out of my room, giggling.
Wait four?!
I shoved Rocky out of my bed.
"Out," I told him.
He just laughed and took his time walking out.
Once again, the Lynch kids were weird.
I changed into a new shirt, and the pants that I'd set aside for the trip, and then left my room without turning back. Since I had already informed my mother I was leaving for the trip, I took my things and left, leaving her a note saying that I had left and that I loved her.
"About time you got here, slowpoke," Ryland muttered as I entered their van.
Why were they in the van again?
"To make sure there are no Rydellington babies yet," Rocky informed me.
I must've been thinking out loud again.
"So where are we going?" Ross asked.
"On a road trip," Ryland answered smartly. Ross flicked him in the head.
"Riker?"
"Rydel?"
"Ratliff?"
Everyone looked at each other.
So where were we going first?
Brilliant. "Vegas?" Rocky suggested. We gave it some thought, and then Riker spoke up.
"Ryland," he reminded.
"Hey!" Went Ryland.
"Or we could just do a tour of California," Rydel suggested.
Since we were all desperate to get moving, we set off, with Riker taking the wheel.
Halfway through, Rocky went to irritate Ryland, who thought that Ross did it. Ross tried to explain that it was Rocky, but Ryland didn't believe it. Rydel told Ryland and Ross to shut up, and she then got called on by Riker for being rude to her siblings.
This was going to be a great trip.
All sarcasm intended.
