Harry's POV:
After dinner Louis headed over to my house. "I can't believe we did it. It felt as if our schooling was forever but graduation lasted for such a short time." Louis said sighing. "At least we can hang out a lot more now!" I said, trying to lighten up his mood. "Yeah!" Louis smiled, "Movie or what?" He asked. I nodded, "What do you want to watch?" Louis shrugged, "I don't know. Whatever really." I closed my eyes and grabbed a DVD case off of a shelf. "The Titanic?" I asked. Louis smiled, "Sure."
Louis' POV:
An hour into the movie, I got a phone call. It was my mom. "Hey, I have to go home. My mom needs me for, like, twenty minutes. I'll be back." I said, getting up and picking up my jacket from the bed. Harry frowned, "What does she need you for?" He asked. I shrugged, "She didn't say, but she said it was necessary and pretty urgent." He nodded in an understanding way. "Okay, drive safe." I said. "I'll pause the movie."
Good thing I live thirty minutes away from Harry's house. Driving down the busy highway at night always freaks me out. People can drink and drive and could wreck. Or run into me....again...
Well did I call it or what. As the light turned green, I pulled forward, about to go. That's when some idiot came flying down the road just opposite of me. Plowing the front of their car into mine, I flew back and slammed the back of my head on the seat. My vision went black. I couldn't hear a thing. I lie motionless in the driver's seat. Blood was rushing out of the gash on my head. The driver stumbled out and over to my door and knocked on my window. "Hello? Sir?" He called. Opening up the door, he helped me out of the car and made me lie on the ground as he called an ambulance. He wasn't drunk, but wasn't one hundred percent sober either. "Uh, yeah, I crashed into this one guy and he isn't moving." Checking to see if I was alive, he placed his ear against my chest. My heart beat was irregular, only pumping 1 beat per minute.
The ambulance arrived and placed me on the gurney. The stranger was in there with me.
Harry's POV:
How weird of Louis to be gone for two hours. He lives thirty minutes away and she needed him for at least twenty minutes. Maybe he had to stay a bit longer for whatever the reason was. My cell phone rang. "Hello?" I said. "Hey, is Louis still there? I told him to be here two hours ago." His mom's voice was shaky. That's when I knew something was up. "No, he left here as soon as he hung up with you. You mean he's not there?" I said just as shaky as her voice was. "No he isn't. I'm so scared. What would I do without him? What would you do without him?" She started to cry. "No no, please don't say that, or cry. Please, don't think bad thoughts. He's probably on his way. Maybe he stopped by a cafe to get something to eat? Don't cry, Johannah. It will be okay." I said. She sniffled and said, "Okay, I'm going to go catch some sleep if I even can. If he goes back over there, please please let me know." I nodded even though she can't see that and before hanging up I said, "Of course."
It's now 3 am. Five hours Louis has been gone. I have a bad feeling. I'm about to be sick.
Louis' POV:
A doctor checked my heart rate. Up to four beats a minute. Somewhat better. "He's not much better than what he was. We may need the defibrillator." A nurse stated. The doctor agreed. "Does the kid have family or friends we can contact to tell them he's here?" The doctore asked. A nurse left the room and re-entered. "His name is Louis Tomlinson. He's been to this hospital before, I was his nurse. I got his mother's number." She said.
"Mrs. Tomlinson." The nurse spoke, "Your son is here at St. Mary's Hospital. He's getting the defibrillator treatment right now, but it doesn't look so good." The nurse stopped for a moment, then spoke again. "What I mean is that his chances of survival don't look so good. He took quite the blow to his skull. It nearly caved in around his brain. Alright, just calling to let you know. Bye now." Hanging up the phone, she turned to the doctor. "Poor woman. She's a mess right now, I can tell."
Harry's POV:
I had a dream that Louis was in the hospital. The light in his room flickered off and when they came back on Louis was already dead. I tossed and turned in bed. "No, no! Louis!" I screamed. My cell phone awoke me, thank God, that dream was terrible. "Hello?" I asked in my sleepy voice. "Johannah, stop crying! Please! I can't understand you." I said. "Louis is what?!" I yelled. "His chances of survival are WHAT?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Tears were coming down hard from my eyes. Sobbing, I continued to listen to what Louis' mom was saying. She told me he was at St. Mary's like before and that she was going to pick me up and drive over there to visit.
Louis' POV:
My hearing returned. My vision is still black though. I heard the rhythmic beep, beep, beep of the heart monitor. "His heart beat increased from before, not by much though." I heard a woman say. "His survival chances are increasing as well," A deep man voice said. "Can he move at all?" The same woman asked. "No, he's paralyzed from the neck down. The impact was so great that it caused him to be this way. He's lucky the crash didn't snap his neck." I couldn't open my eyes, though I wish I could to see who was talking. I heard the room door open and then a small gasp. "Oh my gosh, my baby." I took a wild guess and figured it was my mom. "Louis can you hear me?" She asked. "Ma'am, he's unresponsive but I do think he has his hearing back." A man, who I'm guessing the doctor, said that. "Louis, you're a fighter. Don't give in." A deep raspy voice spoke. Harry! I'd know his voice even if I was deaf.
Harry's POV:
The doctor told Johannah and I that we could stay in here through the night with Louis. Well good because I didn't plan on leaving, nor did Lou's mom. The lights started to flicker on and off. "Faulty wiring," Mrs. Tomlinson said, disturbing the silence. I sat there, shocked. Is my dream becoming reality? Oh fuck no. A cell phone rang. Johannah grabbed her purse and started digging through it. "Oh, this is important, for my work. I must take this," She said, getting up and exiting the hospital room. Standing just outside the door, she talked on the phone. The lights flickered again. On, off, on, off, on. I grabbed Louis' hand and spoke softly to him. "Louis William Tomlinson, I never thought I could love a person as much as I love you. You're truly the greatest thing in my life. I'm so glad we became close. I would have missed out on one hell of experiance we've had." I stopped as the lights flickered again. I got up to go get a drink of water out in the hallway's water fountain. Taking one step into the dark room, I knew something wasn't right. The air was suddenly heavy. The lights came back on and I let out a scream. Johannah rushed in. "Harry? What?" She asked. I covered my mouth with one hand and pointed with the other. Mrs. Tomlinson fell to her knees and began to sob. The doctor saw that and rushed over.
"Is everything okay?" He asked. Johannah couldn't stop sobbing as she let out a small "No." The doctor gazed into the lightened room, "What happened?" I began to speak but came out. My tears were too over powering. Calming myself down, finally, I spoke. "T-the lights were flickering and I walked out of the r-room for a second. And I...I didn't enough time to say my good-byes. I'm so stupid! Why did I leave the room?" I punched the wall in front of me. "I guess because the lights flickered, the whole wiring in the room was messed up. So the heart monitor's wires stopped when the lights were off. When everything turned back on, it was too late." I said in one breath. The tears would not stop.
Louis' POV:
My vision is dark. I feel numb. I can't move a muscle. I feel as if I'm floating.....because I am. I looked down under me. Why can I see my body? Why are my mom and Harry crying? Oh. But how did this happen? Was it because of my heart giving out? I see white now. I'm completely surrounded by white light.
Harry's POV:
"L-Louis, you promised you would never leave me! Why did you have to go? I'm alone now. I need you!" I sobbed over Louis' body. "I can't do this by myself. Please, come back." Johannah came up behind me and pulled me into a hug. "I know sweetie, I know." She sniffled. "I-I just. I love him. I need him. He promised me we'd always be together. We were best friends. Best boyfriends." I sobbed, "Now he's been taken away from us and I don't know," Mrs. Tomlinson's hug never losened. She rubbed my back. "I know. He was my only son. He's so young, too." She said. "Eighteen isn't old. And he had big dreams, too. Wanted to go to a good college, become a musician. Now, it's over." I cried. "You know what? I'm doing that for him. I'll go to a good college and become a singer. I'll live his dream for him. Sure, he would want to do it himself, but at least his dream will live on." I wiped my eyes and smiled. "For Louis," I said. Johannah smiled huge through her tears. "For Louis," She repeated.
