Vanessa's bad feeling seems to never be wrong any more.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was dragging on far longer than normal. Lockhart seems not to notice at all, happy to brag about himself.

All students to return to their House dormitories at once. All teachers return to the staffroom. Immediately, please.

McGonagall's voice echoes through the classroom. The ache in her stomach is nearly making Vanessa vomit. Immediately, chatter fills the class as they grab their things. The students file out of the classroom, Daphne pressing against Vanessa's side, the girls clinging to one another. Vanessa sees the fear etched into all of the other students as they make their way out of their classes and to their Houses.

"What do you think happened?" Daphne murmurs.

"Clearly another attack." Draco rolls his eyes. "Not sure why we're surprised. You think they died this time?"

"Draco Malfoy, you're terrible." Daphne huffs, swatting at him.

All of the Slytherins are gathered, yet again, inside their common room. After some time, Snape walks in looking tense. Their prefects silence the room to allow Snape to speak.

"A student has been taken this time." He says lowly. "The Heir of Slytherin has left a message and taken her into the Chamber of Secrets." He doesn't mince words to ease their fears.

"Who is it?" Edward asks, glancing around and doing a headcount of the students among them.

"It's Ginny Weasley." Snape responds. A ripple of fear goes across the room. Weasley, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. It seems it was different to the Slytherins when it was Muggleborns being attacked, but a pure blood? That seems to make them all terrified.

"Tomorrow you will all be boarding the train to go home. The school will be closing." Snape continues on. "Ensure your things are packed."

He turns on his heels and stalks out of the room, leaving them all to their confusion and concern.

"Well, they're blood traitors..." Draco murmurs. His face is as white as a ghost. "That's gotta be why-"

"Shut up, Draco." Daphne snaps. "Could you just stop. A girl has been taken. Just have some empathy."

"I- I just."

"We're all just scared, tension is a little high." Vanessa sighs. "Come on, Daph', let's go pack." Vanessa grabs her friend's hand and they go to their dorm room. It doesn't take long to pack their things, most everything still in her trunk. She stares at the library books she had checked out and has a sudden worry of Madam Pince being angry for her not returning them in a timely manner. That's silly, of course, a girl has been taken, why is she so worried about her books.

Suddenly, her stomach takes a turn for the worst. She curls up on the bed, a chill rushing over her body. She squeezes her eyes shut, willing the feeling to go away. The transition from awake to sleep happens in a snap. While she sleeps, she plagued with haunting visions of big yellow eyes.

The next thing she knows, she's bolted upright in her bed, a sheen of sweat covering her body and a strong urge to leave filling her. The urge is so strong she's stumbling out of bed before she even realizes.

No one notices as she leaves the common room. The halls are surprisingly empty and echoey as she roams the halls of the castle. It's dark the sun having slipped below the horizon, and lighting can no longer guide her way. She isn't sure where she's going, but intuition seems to. She makes turns, slips past empty classrooms, not at all running into anyone. The pull seems to lessen as she approaches a door, light escaping under the gap at the bottom, as if it's a beacon to show her where she needs to be.
